Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our ever-evolving DevOps team and help shape the future of global commerce. In this role, you’ll strengthen the cloud platforms, automation and delivery capabilities that help our technology teams move faster, operate reliably and scale with confidence. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how we build, deploy and recover critical applications, while leading technical improvements across Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD). Your work will directly improve engineering efficiency, platform resilience and the speed at which Global Payments delivers secure, dependable technology to support our clients and the future of payments.
What you’ll own
- Drive faster, more reliable software delivery by advancing automation across build, release and deployment processes, reducing manual effort and strengthening delivery consistency.
- Shape resilient and cost-effective cloud environments by influencing infrastructure design, improving Kubernetes workload observability and identifying opportunities to optimize performance and cloud spend.
- Own production readiness and recovery capabilities by strengthening deployment practices, troubleshooting complex cloud issues and ensuring disaster recovery processes are tested, understood and ready when they matter most.
- Elevate DevOps engineering standards by growing and maintaining the DevOps code base, improving Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management practices, and introducing solutions that increase scalability, reliability and efficiency.
- Lead through technical influence and collaboration by providing technical direction to DevOps engineers, partnering with project management, business sponsors and senior leaders, and helping the team make informed decisions that deliver stronger business outcomes.
What you'll bring
- 8+ years of experience in information technology, with demonstrated success designing, delivering or supporting complex technology solutions, plus a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong cloud and Kubernetes expertise, with experience provisioning, managing and troubleshooting infrastructure and applications across platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
- Proven automation and Infrastructure as Code capabilities, including hands-on experience with technologies such as Terraform, Jenkins, Git, Ansible and other continuous integration and continuous delivery tools.
- A track record of technical leadership and independent decision-making, with the ability to influence engineering teams, solve complex problems and guide solutions across multiple stakeholders.
- An automation-first and continuous-improvement mindset, with the ability to identify gaps, simplify delivery processes and create scalable solutions that improve reliability, performance and engineering effectiveness.
It's a bonus if you have
- Experience with GitOps and observability technologies, such as Argo CD, Grafana and Jaeger, and working knowledge of networking technologies including firewalls, proxies and package repositories.
- Software development or scripting experience using technologies such as Java, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy or Ruby, along with experience integrating systems using JSON, REST or XML.
- Broad experience with modern DevOps and Infrastructure as Code ecosystems, including Docker, OpenShift, GitHub/GitLab, Artifactory, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef or Ansible.
