Data Analyst

Introduction

The Data Analyst is responsible for transforming raw business data into meaningful insights that support strategic and operational decision-making. The role involves analyzing business performance, identifying trends and opportunities, developing reports and dashboards, and ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate, timely, and actionable information.

The Data Analyst will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, business analysts, and management teams to understand reporting requirements and provide data-driven recommendations that improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and business outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Insights

• Collect, validate, analyze, and interpret large datasets from multiple business systems.
• Identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities within operational and customer data.
• Produce insightful analyses that support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Develop recommendations based on data findings and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses to answer business questions and support critical business initiatives.

Reporting & Dashboard Development

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Create meaningful KPIs and performance metrics aligned with business objectives.
• Ensure reporting solutions are intuitive, accurate, and relevant to stakeholders.
• Automate recurring reports where possible to improve efficiency.
• Monitor dashboard adoption and identify opportunities for improvement.

Data Quality & Governance

• Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems.
• Identify and investigate data discrepancies and root causes.
• Support data governance initiatives and enforce reporting standards.
• Document data definitions, calculations, and business rules.
• Promote a culture of data quality and data-driven decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Work with business users to understand reporting and analytical requirements.
• Translate business needs into technical data requirements.
• Present findings and recommendations in a clear, business-friendly manner.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across departments.
• Provide support and training to report and dashboard users.

Continuous Improvement

• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement through data analysis.
• Recommend automation opportunities and operational efficiencies.
• Stay current with emerging analytics and BI technologies.
• Contribute to the evolution of the company's reporting and analytics capabilities.

Essential

• Advanced SQL skills.
• Strong Power BI development and visualization experience.
• Exposure to MS Fabric Services.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced).
• Data modelling and reporting experience.

• Ability to translate complex findings into actionable business insights.

• Experience with ETL / ELT processes.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related analytical field.

• Certification in Power BI.
• Microsoft Data Analyst Associate.
• Data Analytics or Data Science certifications.
• Azure Data Fundamentals.

Experience

Required

• 4+ years' experience in a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or similar analytical role.
• Experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI.
• Experience working with large datasets and relational databases.
• Proven history of delivering actionable business insights.

Advantageous

• Experience in online marketplaces, automotive, auction, finance, or insurance industries.
• Experience with data warehousing environments.
• Experience supporting executive-level reporting.
