Google is an American technology company founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and now the principal subsidiary of Alphabet, headquartered in Mountain View, California. It operates the world's dominant search engine and the advertising system built around it, along with YouTube, Android, Chrome, Gmail, Maps, Workspace and Google Cloud, reaching billions of users across nearly every internet-connected market. The company designs its own silicon in the Tensor Processing Unit line, develops the Gemini foundation models through Google DeepMind, and derives most of its revenue from advertising while cloud has become its fastest growing segment.

About the job

The Imaging Systems Design Team mission is to design a suite of end-to-end complete systems for mapping collection at scale. This involves engaging the best technology possible to create comprehensive imaging and sensing solutions for feeding geometry and insights to our extensive data pipelines, and from there to power compelling customer experiences. Our team takes an end-to-end approach to understand and cater to the data, operational and logistical needs of these systems with a balanced approach to achieve the best result for an entire portfolio of complex systems.

In this role, you will be an embedded and integral member of the engineering team in Geo hardware, that has end-to-end responsibility of delivery of the designs for Geo's first-party hardware fleet. All phases of the design are in scope, starting from small concept and de-risking exercises through debug and triage of issue patterns in the deployed fleet.

The work involves setting up, testing, reworking, debugging and recording results for systems, providing indirect and direct design feedback, including design work where necessary. It also involves using, acquiring and gaining mastery on a number of generic and specialized tools to support the development and testing of systems, benchmarking novel technologies, and supporting the efficient productivity of both their own work and others on the team. The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
