Google is an American technology company founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and now the principal subsidiary of Alphabet, headquartered in Mountain View, California. It operates the world's dominant search engine and the advertising system built around it, along with YouTube, Android, Chrome, Gmail, Maps, Workspace and Google Cloud, reaching billions of users across nearly every internet-connected market. The company designs its own silicon in the Tensor Processing Unit line, develops the Gemini foundation models through Google DeepMind, and derives most of its revenue from advertising while cloud has become its fastest growing segment.

About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) TPM Team leads cross-functional engineering execution for Google's sovereign, air-gapped (GDCag), and connected (GDCc) edge cloud platforms serving public sector, defense, intelligence, and regulated enterprise customers globally.

As the Security and Compliance Technical Program Manager (TPM) across GDCag and GDCc, you will partner with Security Engineering, Product Management, Operable Component (OC) Tech Leads, and Cloud CISO/Compliance teams to drive GDC's security and accreditation roadmap. You will lead high-priority horizontal security mandates-including Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Migration (CNSA 2.0 / NIST SP 800-208), continuous vulnerability and CVE remediation SLAs, and automated SecAssure compliance controls-while orchestrating US Government (IL5/IL6, FedRAMP High, NIAP) and commercial/sovereign regulatory certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS) from architectural scoping through audit readiness and release sign-off.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive cross-functional security and compliance roadmaps across GDC Air-Gapped (GDCag), GDC Connected (GDCc), and Gemini on GDC Connected (GGC) to unlock sovereign, defense, and regulated enterprise accreditations (IL5/IL6, FedRAMP, FIPS).
  • Operationalize shift-left security and compliance gates across the software and hardware release lifecycle, delivering master execution plans, dependency maps, risk registers, and executive readiness reviews.
  • Partner with engineering and security architects across the full GDC tech stack: bare-metal servers, GPU/AI serving infrastructure, Kubernetes/GKE, Linux OS, networking, storage, KMS/HSMs, IAM, and zero-trust boundary controls.
  • Drive cryptographic modernization, continuous vulnerability management (CVE/SBOM), and secure software/firmware supply chain workflows tailored for disconnected and hybrid topologies.
  • Align Engineering, Security, Compliance, Product, and Operations (SovOps) stakeholders to resolve complex technical trade-offs and ensure predictable, audit-ready customer releases.

  • Experience operating within cleared national security environments with active US Government security clearance.
  • Experience leading vulnerability assessment and management programs (scan coverage, triage, remediation tracking, and exception governance) across large-scale software or hardware environments.
  • Experience embedding shift-left security assessments (such as secure-by-design reviews, pen testing, or cryptographic modernization) into the product lifecycle, and relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP).
