[What Data Engineering TAP is]  

Data Engineers build trust by unlocking data's full potential and transforming public service delivery for citizens and businesses at scale. 

As a Data Engineer, you will play an integral role in designing trustworthy data systems, pioneering modern technologies, and building lasting data capabilities that form a resilient foundation for a more responsive, data-literate and citizen-centric government. The work spans several key areas. 

• Reliable data at every stage. We design and maintain the pipelines, platforms and infrastructure that keep data flowing reliably across the whole data lifecycle, from ingestion through to consumption. That reliability is what the quality of every downstream insight and service depends on. 

• Scalable foundations for data products. We build the infrastructure and components that let data products grow without breaking, designing systems that stay maintainable, performant and adaptable as needs evolve across teams and agencies. 

• Connecting data to decisions. We bridge the gap between raw data and real outcomes. Through sound data modelling, governance and Data Ops practices, we make sure the right data reaches the right people in a form that is accurate, timely and trustworthy. 

Through the Technology Associate Programme (TAP), you will build a strong foundation in Data Engineering by working alongside experienced Data Engineers and solving real data problems for the benefit of our citizens. Structured rotations, mentorship and hands-on project experience will deepen your technical craft, build your confidence and expose you to different problem spaces across the Whole-of-Government. 

Whether you're modelling data, engineering ingestion and transformation pipelines, embedding data quality and governance, or exploring how AI can create self-detecting, self-healing and self-optimising pipelines, you will contribute meaningfully while building the reusable platforms and reference architectures that raise the standard of data engineering across government.

[What we are looking out for]  

• You are a Singapore citizen or Singaporean Permanent Resident 
• Graduating from university or with less than one year of work experience and ableto commencework in 2027
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics or a related field. 
• Proficiencyin programming languages such as Python. 
• Proficiencyin query languages such as SQL. 
• Exposure tocloud technologies such as AWS, Azureor GCP. 
• Good understanding of system design, data structure and algorithms, data modelling, data access, and data storage. 
• Curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn new domains. 
• Inclination to work in a collaborative, fast-moving Agile environment. 
• Strong communicationskills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to a diverse audience. 
• Critical and systems thinking, approaching problems with curiosity rather than accepting them at face value.
