Engineering Manager

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Java Backend team. You will be responsible for designing scalable backend systems, mentoring engineers, and driving technical excellence while aligning engineering efforts with business goals.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers.
• Design and architect scalable, high-performance backend systems using Java.
• Drive the development of microservices-based architecture.
• Ensure best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams.
• Own end-to-end delivery of backend services (design, deployment, monitoring).
• Improve system reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Establish engineering processes, standards, and KPIs.
• Conduct code reviews and technical design reviews.
• Manage sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release cycles.
• Drive adoption of DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native practices.

Requirements:

• Strong expertise in Java (Java 8+).
• Experience with frameworks like Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Hands-on with Kafka / RabbitMQ or other messaging systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP).
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc. )
• Understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimisation.

Leadership and Management Skills:

• Proven experience managing engineering teams (5-15 members).
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience in hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills.
