Senior Staff Backend Engineer

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Staff Engineer - Backend to drive the design, architecture, scalability, and development of large-scale distributed systems. The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in backend engineering with strong hands-on experience in Java, Python, or Golang, along with a strong understanding of scalable system design, cloud-native architecture, and engineering best practices. This role requires a strong technical leader who can influence architecture decisions, mentor engineering teams, and build highly performant and reliable backend systems.

Responsibilities:

• Architect, design, and develop highly scalable backend systems and distributed applications.
• Drive technical strategy, system design, and engineering excellence across teams.
• Build robust APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, latency, and reliability.
• Lead critical architecture discussions and technology decisions.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps, and Leadership teams.
• Mentor senior engineers and establish engineering best practices.
• Ensure high code quality through reviews, testing strategies, and observability practices.
• Drive cloud-native development and infrastructure scalability.
• Handle complex production issues, root cause analysis, and system optimization.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of strong backend engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in at least one backend language: Java, Python, or Golang.
• Deep understanding of: Distributed Systems, Microservices Architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, System Design and Scalability, Multi-threading and Concurrency, Database Design (SQL and NoSQL), and Event-driven Architectures.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
• Experience building high-throughput, low-latency production systems.
• Strong debugging, optimization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to drive technical leadership across multiple teams.

Good to Have:

• Experience with platform engineering or infrastructure systems.
• Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or data-intensive systems.
• Knowledge of Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, or similar distributed technologies.
• Prior experience in large-scale product companies or high-growth startups.
