Senior Staff Engineer

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Staff Engineer to lead the development of highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and distributed backend systems. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in either Java, Python, or Golang, along with the willingness and capability to work extensively on Erlang-based systems and platforms. This role requires deep technical leadership, strong distributed systems knowledge, and the ability to architect and build high-availability applications operating at scale. You will work closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to drive platform modernization, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and develop large-scale distributed systems with high availability and low latency.
• Work on backend platforms built using or integrated with Erlang-based systems.
• Design scalable microservices and resilient backend infrastructure.
• Drive technical strategy, architecture discussions, and engineering best practices.
• Lead critical engineering initiatives across teams and mentor senior developers.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, scalability, and performance.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams.
• Review system architecture, conduct code reviews, and guide technical decision-making.
• Build and optimize cloud-native applications and services.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues in distributed environments.

Technical Requirements:

• 12+ years of software engineering experience in backend or platform engineering.
• Strong proficiency in at least one of the following: Java, Python, or Golang.
• Exposure to or willingness to work with Erlang and distributed messaging systems.
• Strong understanding of: Distributed Systems, Concurrency and Parallel Processing, System Design and Scalability, Event-Driven Architecture
• Hands-on experience with Microservices Architecture.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong database fundamentals with SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging systems is preferred.
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working on telecom-scale, messaging, or real-time systems.
• Exposure to Erlang/OTP concepts and actor-model architecture.
• Experience building highly fault-tolerant systems.
• Strong technical leadership and mentoring experience.
• Ability to influence architecture and engineering standards across teams.
