Forward Deployed Software Engineer

We are looking for a Forward Deployed and Product Engineer who can work closely with customers to understand complex business workflows and build production-ready AI applications that solve real-world problems. This role combines customer-facing engineering, full-stack product development, and AI application engineering. You will take ownership of the complete development lifecycle, from understanding customer requirements and designing technical solutions to building, deploying, and improving applications in production.

You will work across frontend, backend, AI agents, enterprise integrations, and infrastructure to deliver solutions that create measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, working directly with customers, and turning real-world requirements into scalable product capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with customers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to understand existing workflows, identify challenges, and define measurable success criteria.
• Translate complex business requirements into technical designs, working applications, and production-ready AI solutions.
• Build end-to-end applications, including frontend interfaces, backend APIs, data models, AI agent behaviour, and enterprise integrations.
• Develop agent instructions, tools, connectors, and workflow automation capabilities with appropriate permissions, approval mechanisms, and error handling.
• Design and implement reliable, secure, and maintainable software systems that support enterprise requirements.
• Conduct realistic testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, to ensure applications perform reliably in production environments.
• Deploy applications, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve system performance, reliability, and user experience.
• Work closely with customers during implementation and adoption, gathering feedback and iterating on solutions to achieve business objectives.
• Identify recurring customer requirements and collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to develop reusable product capabilities.
• Maintain accountability for the complete delivery lifecycle, from initial discovery and development through deployment, adoption, and ongoing improvement.
• Travel within India when required to support customer discovery, implementation, and product adoption.

Requirements:

• 5-12 years of software engineering experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidates outside this range.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering, including application architecture, API design, data modelling, testing, and production debugging.
• Demonstrated experience building and deploying production-grade software applications.
• Ability to work across frontend, backend, databases, integrations, and infrastructure as required.
• Experience with modern web application development and backend service frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Understanding of enterprise security principles, including authentication, authorisation, data protection, permissions, and auditability.
• Experience using AI coding tools and modern AI models to improve engineering productivity while maintaining ownership of code quality and architectural decisions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements, broad ownership, and regular customer interaction.

Preferred Technical Skills:

Experience with some of the following technologies and concepts is beneficial:

• Frontend: TypeScript, React, TanStack, Tailwind CSS.
• Backend: Python, FastAPI, REST APIs.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, relational data modelling, typed data models.
• AI Engineering: AI agents, LLM integrations, agent tools, workflow automation, evaluations.
• Integrations: MCP-based tools and connectors, enterprise APIs, browser automation.
• Infrastructure: Kubernetes, cloud-native deployment, observability, and durable workflows.
• Engineering Practices: Automated testing, production monitoring, debugging, and AI-assisted development.
• Experience with every technology listed is not mandatory. We value strong engineering fundamentals, adaptability, and the ability to learn new tools quickly.

• Can move comfortably between product development, backend systems, AI application engineering, and deployment.
• Demonstrate sound product judgment and know when to build a customer-specific solution versus a reusable platform capability.
• Are comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and taking responsibility for outcomes beyond code delivery.
• Candidates with backgrounds in early-stage startups, product engineering, customer-facing engineering, or forward-deployed engineering may be a strong fit, although these backgrounds are not mandatory.
