About the Role
HCLTech is looking for an experienced AI Engineer to design, build, and support scalable AI solutions across Azure and AWS environments.
The role will focus on Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic AI, LLMs, and cloud-based AI services, while working closely with engineering, data, product, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop Generative AI and RAG solutions using LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, and enterprise search.
Build conversational and agentic AI applications, including secure tool-calling and multi-agent workflows.
Develop and maintain AI/data pipelines for document ingestion, processing, enrichment, and vectorization.
Integrate AI solutions with Azure and AWS cloud services.
Evaluate and optimize AI models for quality, performance, security, and cost.
Implement monitoring, logging, guardrails, and responsible AI practices.
Support CI/CD and deployment of production AI workloads.
Collaborate with product, data, security, and engineering teams throughout the solution lifecycle.
Required Skills & Experience
6+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years working with Generative AI/LLMs.
Strong hands-on experience with RAG, LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, and agentic AI.
Strong programming experience with Python and/or C#/.NET.
Experience with Azure AI services, particularly Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Search.
Experience working with AWS AI/cloud services is an advantage.
Experience with AI frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar.
Good understanding of APIs, cloud architecture, security, CI/CD, monitoring, and production AI deployments.
Experience with data processing technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark, or similar.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building scalable production solutions.
Nice to Have
Experience with Azure AI Agent Service and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Experience with open-source models such as Llama and frameworks such as Hugging Face.
Kubernetes, Docker, GPU workloads, or local model deployment experience.
Experience with model evaluation, fine-tuning, MLflow, or Responsible AI practices.
Relevant Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
