eCommerce Frontend Technical Lead (Next.js, EDS, PWA & Commerce Performance Architecture)

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced eCommerce Frontend Technical Lead to drive the architecture, development, modernization, and performance optimization of global digital commerce experiences. This role requires deep expertise in eCommerce platforms and customer journeys, with strong hands-on capabilities in Next.js, Adobe Edge Delivery Services (EDS), React, and Progressive Web Applications (PWA).

The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across the frontend commerce landscape, define scalable architecture patterns, drive engineering excellence, and lead the evolution from traditional Adobe Commerce/Magento storefronts to a modern composable architecture leveraging ACCS, EDS, API Mesh, and App Builder. A critical aspect of the role is defining and governing the end-to-end caching and performance strategy across the commerce ecosystem to ensure scalability, resilience, and exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Serve as the technical authority for frontend eCommerce architecture and engineering practices.
• Define and govern frontend architecture, coding standards, design patterns, and technical roadmaps.
• Lead architecture reviews, solution design workshops, and technical decision-making.
• Drive modernization initiatives from traditional Magento implementations to composable commerce architectures.
• Mentor and coach engineers, technical leads, and development teams.
• Establish reusable frameworks, component standards, and design system governance.

eCommerce Storefront Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable storefront applications using:
• Next.js
• React.js
• TypeScript
• Adobe Edge Delivery Services (EDS)
• Progressive Web Technologies
• Lead implementation of:
• Product Listing Pages (PLP)
• Product Detail Pages (PDP)
• Cart & Checkout
• Search & Navigation
• Customer Account Experiences
• Merchandising & Personalization Experiences
• Define reusable component libraries and frontend platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with backend, architecture, and product teams to deliver scalable customer experiences.

Commerce Performance, Caching & Scalability Architecture

Current State (On-Prem Magento / Adobe Commerce)

• Define and govern the enterprise caching strategy across all commerce channels.
• Establish caching architecture covering:
• Full Page Cache (FPC)
• Varnish Cache
• Redis Cache
• CDN Optimization
• Browser Caching
• API Response Caching
• Search and Catalog Caching
• Pricing and Inventory Caching
• Define cache invalidation, cache warming, purge, and refresh strategies.
• Partner with infrastructure and platform teams to optimize origin load and storefront responsiveness.
• Establish performance engineering standards and monitoring practices.

Future State (ACCS / EDS / Composable Commerce)

• Design and own the target-state caching strategy as the organization transitions to:
• Adobe Commerce Cloud Service (ACCS)
• Edge Delivery Services (EDS)
• Adobe API Mesh
• Adobe App Builder
• Headless Commerce Architecture
• Define cache hierarchy and governance across:
• Browser

• Define storefront migration strategies from traditional Magento/PWA implementations to EDS-powered storefronts.
• Evaluate and recommend architecture patterns that improve scalability, maintainability, and upgradeability.

• Establish frontend SDLC standards and engineering governance.
• Lead code reviews and technical quality assessments.
• Drive adoption of:

Skill Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading frontend engineering teams for enterprise eCommerce platforms.
• Proven experience delivering global B2C and B2B digital commerce solutions.
• Experience leading frontend architecture and modernization initiatives.
