Job Summary
HCLTech is looking for an accomplished Enterprise Wireless L3 Engineer for its Noida location. This is a critical technology role responsible for engineering, operational stability, security, service resilience and continuous improvement across a complex enterprise environment. The role requires deep hands-on expertise, disciplined change execution, strong troubleshooting capability and effective collaboration with infrastructure, application, security, service-management and vendor teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the highest technical escalation point for enterprise wireless environments across Cisco, Aruba, Meraki and Arista platforms.
- Administer Cisco Catalyst 9800/AireOS, DNA Center, ArubaOS/Central, ClearPass, Meraki Dashboard and Arista CloudVision WiFi.
- Troubleshoot RF, roaming, authentication, performance, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, routing, QoS and 802.1X/RADIUS issues.
- Lead HLD/LLD validation, RF planning, predictive and post-deployment surveys, heat-map analysis, upgrades, lifecycle management and vendor TAC cases.
Create SOPs, knowledge articles and runbooks; automate health checks/reporting and mentor L1/L2 engineers
Skill Requirements
Experienced Wireless L3 Engineer to serve as the highest technical escalation point for enterprise wireless environments. The role owns complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, design validation, and optimization across multi-vendor wireless infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a hands-on expert across Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, and Arista wireless platforms, capable of leading resolution of critical incidents and mentoring L1/L2 teams.
Primary Technology Skills (Mandatory)
- Cisco Wireless: Catalyst 9800 series WLCs, AireOS, FlexConnect, Cisco DNA Center / Catalyst Center, Catalyst and Aironet access points, Clean Air, RRM, WIPS.
- Aruba Wireless (including Aruba Central): ArubaOS, Mobility Controllers/Conductor, Aruba Instant (IAP), Aruba Central cloud management, Air Match, ClearPass integration, WIPS.
- Cisco Meraki: Cloud-managed wireless (MR series), Meraki Dashboard, templates, group policies, wireless health, and API-based management.
- Arista Wireless: Arista/Cloud Vision WiFi (formerly Mojo Networks), cloud-managed APs, WIPS/WIDS, and analytics.
Supporting Technical Skills
- 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax (Wi-Fi 5/6/6E), RF fundamentals, and spectrum analysis.
- Authentication & security: 802.1X, EAP methods, Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass, RADIUS, PSK, certificates, WPA2/WPA3.
- Wired integration: VLANs, trunking, DHCP, DNS, routing/switching fundamentals, and QoS.
- Wireless survey and analysis tools (e.g., Ekahau, AirMagnet, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with scripting/automation (Python, REST APIs) for wireless operations is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the final escalation tier (L3) for all enterprise wireless incidents, problems, and change requests.
- Perform deep-dive root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring and high-severity wireless issues, including RF, roaming, authentication, and performance problems.
- Lead design reviews, high-level and low-level design (HLD/LLD) validation, and implementation of wireless solutions across multiple vendors.
- Conduct RF planning, predictive and post-deployment surveys, heat-map analysis, and channel/power optimization.
- Troubleshoot complex Layer 1-3 issues spanning WLAN, authentication (802.1X, RADIUS/ISE/ClearPass), QoS, and integration with wired infrastructure.
- Manage lifecycle activities: firmware/code upgrades, patching, EoL/EoS migrations, and vendor coordination for TAC/support cases.
- Drive automation and standardization of wireless operations, health checks, and reporting.
- Create and maintain SOPs, knowledge base articles, and runbooks; mentor and upskill L1/L2 engineers.
- Support audits, capacity planning, and continuous improvement of the wireless estate.

- Provide L3 ownership for large multi-site wireless services across Cisco, Aruba, Meraki and Arista environments.
- Lead RF design validation, predictive and post-deployment surveys, channel/power optimization, roaming and capacity improvements.
- Resolve complex 802.1X/RADIUS, authentication, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, QoS, interference and client-performance incidents.
- Plan controller, access-point and management-platform upgrades with test, rollback and business-impact controls.
- Maintain platform standards, diagrams, heat maps, SOPs, known-error articles and technical mentoring for operations teams.

PROFICIENCY EXPECTATIONS
Competent (L3): Independently resolve complex multi-vendor RF, roaming, authentication and performance incidents; validate designs; lead surveys and optimization; mentor L1/L2.
Proficient (L4): Own enterprise wireless architecture and technology strategy; set standards, migration roadmaps and RF governance; lead vendor relationships and mentor L3 engineers.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting business-critical enterprise environments and handling complex incidents and changes.
- Working knowledge of ITIL-aligned incident, problem, change, request and knowledge-management processes.
- Ability to create HLD/LLD, implementation plans, rollback plans, SOPs, runbooks, RCA documents and operational reports.
- Strong stakeholder communication, ownership, analytical thinking and collaboration across application, infrastructure, security and vendor teams.
- Ability to participate in operational support, planned changes and major-incident activities according to business requirements.
