Senior Group Marketing Controller (All Genders)

The role

The Group Marketing Controller is the primary finance interface for HelloFresh's global marketing function. The role exists to ensure marketing spend is planned accurately, closed correctly, and reported transparently - bridging the gap between marketing execution and the Group P&L.

What you’ll do

1. Close & Accruals

• Own the month-end close process for marketing cost lines across all markets
• Review and validate marketing accruals submitted by local finance teams
• Identify and resolve booking errors, misclassifications, or missing accruals
• Maintain clean actuals in the income statement for all marketing line items
• Work with SE Finance Controlling to improve and create transparency to the markets on marketing IC charges

2. Budget & Forecast Management

• Consolidate and challenge market-level marketing budgets during planning cycles
• Lead marketing Guidance creation for Business Plan cycles
• Maintain the Group marketing budget with actuals vs. budget vs. forecast
• Flag material variances early and escalate to marketing stakeholders

3. Reporting & Analysis

• Work with Tech and local markets to improve and automate input quality of weekly reporting
• Produce monthly marketing performance reports covering spend vs. budget, phasing, and key variance drivers (Leverage A.I. and Databricks Dashboards)
• Support the CFO/board reporting pack with accurate marketing cost commentary
• Build and maintain performance reports for Global Marketing teams

4. Business Partnering

• Act as the day-to-day finance contact for the Global Marketing teams
• Manage Direct and Indirect spend for the Marketing team

5. Process & Controls

• Document and improve the end-to-end marketing close process
• Ensure consistent cost treatment across markets (e.g. working vs. non-working spend, agency fees, media)
• Identify gaps in how marketing costs are captured and propose fixes

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Clean marketing close every month - no material restatements or late accruals
• Stakeholders can trust the marketing numbers without re-checking them
• Variances are explained proactively, not reactively
• Marketing controller processes are standardised across markets

WHAT THE FUTURE LOOKS LIKE

• Manage marketing spend between markets by reviewing ROI, AOR and agreed upon KPI performance
• Centralised and automated marketing controlling at month-end

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

• Not a marketing strategist - not expected to have opinions on campaign effectiveness or brand direction
• Not a data analyst - analytical support comes from the Finance Systems team; this role translates outputs into financial conclusions
• Not a local market controller - this role holds the Group view; local controllers own their market execution

What you’ll bring

• Several years of experience in financial controlling, FP&A, or a similar finance business-partnering role, ideally with exposure to marketing or performance-marketing cost structures
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; comfort working with large datasets and BI/reporting tools
• Ability to explain financial variances clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Experience running or supporting a month-end close process
• Comfort operating across multiple markets and currencies in a fast-paced, matrixed organisation
• Curiosity about how AI and automation can modernise financial reporting
