Account Manager

Velocity Building Technical Services is seeking a Project Executive to lead strategic customer relationships, profitable growth, and project portfolio performance across our integrated building-performance services. This is a hands-on executive role for a commercially disciplined leader who can connect client needs with technically sound solutions and guide work from pursuit through successful closeout. This role is onsite located in Kent, WA.

Velocity Building Technical Services (BTS) brings together Test and Balance, Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning, Energy Services, Indoor Air Quality, and Fire/Life-Safety services. Our approach emphasizes technical depth, responsiveness, compliance leadership, and ownership from testing and troubleshooting through verification and acceptance. 

Key Responsibilities

• Build and expand strategic relationships with owners, facility managers, general contractors, mechanical contractors, engineers, and public-sector clients.
• Develop, qualify, estimate, negotiate, and close opportunities with clear review of scope, schedule, staffing, commercial terms, risk, and margin.
• Create and follow up quarterly on a One-Page business plan and review with manager.
• Sell and manage projects from start to finish.
• Effectively manage the projects from start to close out.
• Provide executive oversight from pursuit through closeout, ensuring sales commitments are transferred clearly and delivered as promised.
• Own portfolio performance, including revenue, gross margin, operating income, cash flow, backlog quality, forecast accuracy, billing, collections, and customer retention.
• Coordinate leaders across TAB, Commissioning/Energy Services, and Fire/Life-Safety to deliver integrated solutions without gaps or duplication.
• Guide strategic account plans, pursuit plans, proposal strategy, executive presentations, fee negotiations, and contract discussions.
• Identify cross-selling and recurring-service opportunities involving TAB, commissioning, energy, indoor air quality, controls support, smoke control, and fire/smoke damper services.
• Lead project turnover and recurring portfolio reviews covering labor demand, cost to complete, schedule exposure, deficiencies, change management, and closeout.
• Engage qualified subject-matter experts for complex or high-risk work and promote consistent QA/QC across technical deliverables.
• Develop managers and project teams through clear expectations, coaching, Mentoring, accountability, succession planning, training, and certification support.
• Champion company, owner, site, and regulatory safety requirements while resolving significant customer, contractual, technical, staffing, quality, or financial issues.
• Other duties as required.

Accountabilities and KPIs

• Strategic account plans completed and reviewed.
• Revenue growth within priority accounts.

• Repeat-work conversion; Growth in compliance, healthcare, mission-critical, Tenant Improvements and public-sector opportunities.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000. (The compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience).

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership in technical building services.
• Proven success developing customer relationships, building qualified pipeline, negotiating contracts, and closing complex professional or specialty-contractor work.
• Strong working knowledge of estimating, project management, forecasting, job cost, change management, billing, collections, and portfolio financial performance. 
• Working understanding of mechanical systems, controls integration, commissioning processes, TAB execution, and fire/life-safety testing sufficient to guide strategy, assess risk, and engage technical experts. 
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with owners, contractors, engineers, facility staff, field personnel, executives, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to make timely decisions and maintain disciplined follow-through.

Education and Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated continuing education or professional development in leadership, strategic planning, finance, project management, contract administration, sales, or organizational development is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and experience using business systems for customer relationship management, project management, financial reporting, forecasting, and performance tracking.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client, office, and project locations as business needs require.
