This opportunity will be ideal for anyone with a passion and desire to deliver within Electrical Substation engineering, we are looking for someone with an eye for detail and able to prepare documentation and diagrams. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and delivering design for Primary Equipment, Protection and Control systems and associated auxiliary systems at Transmission and Distribution levels. You will be respected internally for your technical skills and your ability to deliver what our clients require, on time and on budget. You will be able to confidently deliver packages of work in the field of both Primary & Secondary Substation Engineering.
Location, (Hybrid) with 3 days in Dublin Office
How you'll make an impact:
Engineering development: Ensuring that engineering is developed with complete information and/or that all multidisciplinary information has been included. Leading development of new solutions for complex projects and challenges.
Engineering Lead: Driving completion of all engineering activities on the project. Coordinating engineering discipline across several projects. Providing technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities. May act as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline (Primary/Secondary) and completes engineering assignments for that discipline.
Engineering Project Management: Preparing complete project documents in area of responsibility. Providing cost effective quality solutions and delivering within budget and contract. Ensuring adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks. Creating work plans and cost estimates. Reviewing and approving scope, budget and schedule for assignments.
To design check & approve P&C schemes in accordance with established standards such as ISO 9001, TPs, NGTs, ESIs, BS, IEC Standards, etc.
Provide technical support, Work Breakdown Structures for tendering.
Work in line with project programs and create regular updates.
Enable effective project delivery by assisting with preparation of Design Intent Documents, Tech Specs for Plant and P&C equipment, Schematic Diagrams, LVAC & battery sizing, cable sizing & settings, Approving WDs, cable schedules, core sheets, etc.
On a BIM project assume the role of ‘Task Information Manager/Task Team Interface Manager or Task Team Manager’ (as required), for all detailed roles and responsibilities see the BIM Manual.
Able to directly liaise with clients in a confident manner and lead meetings with clients
An ability to deliver technically excellent engineering designs and consultancy services
Your Background:
Minimum qualification of BEng (honours) in a related engineering field and 5 years of applicable experience.
Proven knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (220kV to 11 kV)
Primary (yard/equipment) and/or secondary (protection & control) substation experience
Good teamwork, Analytical and communication skills
Ability in working to tight deadlines and working in high pressurised environments
Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office, Autocad.
Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools.
Strong commitment to safe work practices and a high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies.
Understanding / Knowledge of Distribution Network Operator / National Grid etc. standards and drawing practices
Coaching and reviewing the work of team members
