HP Inc. is an American technology company created in 2015 when the original Hewlett-Packard split its personal systems and printing businesses away from its enterprise arm. It is one of the largest personal computer vendors in the world, shipping consumer and commercial laptops, desktops and workstations under the HP, Pavilion, Envy, EliteBook, OMEN and Poly brands, alongside a printing division covering home, office, large-format and industrial 3D printing. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, the company earns a large share of profit from supplies and services attached to its installed base and has pushed into hybrid-work peripherals and subscription hardware.
Senior Creative Technologist

Description -

Job Summary

The Senior Creative Technologist will help define how generative AI is used to create high-quality, scalable marketing content within HP's Content Transformation platform.

This role sits at the intersection of creative craft, marketing, generative AI, and production systems. The Senior Creative Technologist translates real marketing briefs and creative requirements into repeatable generation approaches across copy, imagery, video, templates, and other content formats.

This is not a pure prompt-writing role. The value of this position comes from combining strong creative judgment with a systems mindset: understanding what makes content effective, identifying why AI outputs succeed or fail, and converting those learnings into structured prompts, workflows, constraints, benchmarks, and reusable generation playbooks.

The role will work closely with Product Management, Platform Engineering, Adobe, designers, marketers, and other Creative Technologists to continuously improve the quality, consistency, efficiency, and production readiness of content generated through mAIstro.

Generative AI tools can create content quickly, but access to models alone does not create production-quality marketing content. HP needs Creative Technologists who can bridge the gap between marketing intent and AI execution.

The Senior Creative Technologist helps ensure that generation systems understand:

  • what information is required
  • what good creative looks like
  • how brand and product requirements should influence outputs
  • which elements must remain controlled
  • how outputs should adapt across formats and channels
  • when generation has failed and why
  • how workflows should improve based on real production feedback

The role turns these requirements into repeatable generation systems that can scale across HP products, markets, channels, and content types.

Responsibilities

1. Design AI-Enabled Creative Workflows

  • Translate marketing briefs and creative requirements into structured AI-generation workflows.
  • Identify required inputs such as product truth, messaging, audience, market, channel, brand guidance, claims, references, and output specifications.
  • Determine which variables should be generated, inherited, locked, selectable, or editable.
  • Define generation sequences where appropriate, such as copy approval before image, video, or template generation.
  • Design fallback and regeneration logic for incomplete inputs, failed outputs, or model limitations.
  • Partner with Product Management to translate creative requirements into product capabilities and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with Platform Engineering to ensure creative workflows can be implemented reliably inside mAIstro.

2. Build and Optimize Generation Playbooks

Create reusable playbooks for priority content use cases covering:

  • input requirements
  • structured prompts and prompt components
  • reasoning instructions
  • reference assets
  • output specifications
  • brand constraints
  • product-fidelity requirements
  • template-fit rules

3. Develop and Optimize Prompts Across Content Types

  • Create and optimize structured prompts for copy, imagery, video, and multimodal workflows.
  • Improve imagery across composition, focal hierarchy, lighting, realism, perspective, environment, product presentation, color, and usable layout space.
  • Improve video outputs across framing, camera behavior, continuity, movement, pacing, environment, lighting, storytelling, and product integrity.
  • Develop negative constraints and corrective prompting strategies for common generation failures.

4. Establish Creative Quality Standards

  • Define what good means for AI-generated content in collaboration with creative, brand, product, and marketing stakeholders.
  • Create objective evaluation criteria and benchmark examples.
  • Classify outputs as ready, refinable, or unsuitable and clearly explain why.
  • Evaluate creative quality using design principles rather than personal preference alone.
  • Define regeneration triggers and recommended corrective actions.

5. Diagnose and Reduce AI Failure Modes

Identify recurring problems such as:

  • incorrect or distorted products
  • anatomy or representation issues
  • generic or low-quality aesthetics
  • weak composition
  • inconsistent scale or perspective
  • unwanted visual clutter
  • temporal instability, object morphing, or continuity problems
  • unnatural motion or inconsistent product appearance
  • Determine whether an issue should be addressed through prompting, workflow changes, data improvements, model selection, template constraints, or escalation to another team.

6. Partner With Adobe and Creative Teams

  • Work directly with Adobe Creative Technology, Firefly, Foundry, and engineering resources on generation capabilities.
  • Translate HP creative requirements into actionable model requirements.
  • Test new model versions and capabilities against HP benchmark use cases.
  • Document issues with sufficient detail for Adobe or internal creative teams to reproduce and resolve them.
  • Partner with the AI Creative Platform Engineer to move successful experiments into stable mAIstro capabilities.
  • Help determine whether issues originate from the model, prompting, workflow, data, templates, or platform implementation.

What this Person Owns

  • Creative quality and generation logic for assigned AI-enabled content use cases.
  • Structured prompt and reasoning approaches for copy, imagery, video, and multimodal generation.
  • Generation playbooks that define inputs, outputs, constraints, guardrails, expected variants, and regeneration behavior.
  • Creative evaluation of AI-generated outputs using clear design, brand, product, and production criteria.
  • Benchmarking and quality standards for AI-generated content.
  • Structured experimentation across models, prompting approaches, references, parameters, and workflows.
  • Diagnosis and reduction of recurring generation failure modes.
  • Template-fit logic, including copy limits, layout behavior, safe zones, asset requirements, and generation constraints.
  • Documentation of effective prompt patterns, workflow behavior, model characteristics, examples, and lessons learned.
  • Continuous improvement based on marketer, reviewer, and production feedback.
  • Practical enablement that helps marketers achieve stronger outputs without needing deep prompt-engineering expertise.

What this Person Does Not Own

  • Overall mAIstro product roadmap or marketer UI.
  • Final brand, legal, or product approval decisions.
  • End-to-end software architecture of the mAIstro platform.
  • Core application engineering, APIs, authentication, infrastructure, or deployment.
  • Enterprise workflow or project management.
  • Ownership of every creative deliverable.

The Senior Creative Technologist defines how AI-enabled creative capabilities should behave and perform. Product Management owns what should be built, and Platform Engineering owns how those capabilities are technically integrated and operated.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in creative technology, visual design, art direction, creative production, motion design, content systems, digital production, or a related discipline.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-level creative judgment across composition, hierarchy, typography, color, imagery, lighting, visual storytelling, motion, and digital content.
  • Hands-on experience using generative AI for professional creative production.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and optimize structured prompts and generation workflows.
  • Ability to evaluate creative outputs objectively and explain why one solution is stronger than another.
  • Strong understanding of modern creative production workflows across multiple content formats.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Express.
  • Experience testing AI capabilities systematically and documenting findings.
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, rapidly evolving technology environments.
  • Strong collaboration skills across creative, marketing, product, and technical teams.
  • Experience with Adobe Firefly, Firefly Services, Foundry, Express, or other advanced generative AI platforms.
  • Experience with leading image, video, and multimodal generation models.
  • Experience with LLM-based copy generation and reasoning workflows.
  • Experience designing reusable prompt or generation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with reference-image workflows, structured prompts, model parameters, seeds, metadata, and generation controls.
  • Experience with retouching, compositing, motion graphics, editing, or advanced image manipulation.
  • Experience supporting enterprise brands with strong governance requirements.
  • Understanding of APIs, automation, or workflow orchestration sufficient to collaborate effectively with engineers.

How Success is Measured

  • Higher first-pass acceptance of generated content w/ fewer unnecessary regeneration cycles.
  • Reduction in recurring AI generation failure modes.
  • Improved consistency across products, markets, channels, and use cases.
  • Reusable generation playbooks adopted across multiple workflows.
  • Faster onboarding of new models and AI capabilities.
  • Strong collaboration between Creative Technology, Product, Engineering, Adobe, and marketing users.

The Profile We Are Looking For

You have strong creative taste, but you can explain it.

You can look at an AI-generated output and identify whether the problem is composition, lighting, hierarchy, motion, copy, product fidelity, prompting, source data, model capability, or workflow design.

You are comfortable moving between a creative review and a technical discussion.

You do not stop when AI produces something plausible. You iterate until the output is intentional, repeatable, and suitable for production.

Most importantly, you think beyond individual generations. Your job is to make the system better so that the next hundred generations are stronger than the first one.
