Director, Information Security Architecture

EchoStar is hiring a Director of Information Security Architecture to lead the strategy, design, and governance of enterprise security architecture across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments. The role establishes security standards and embeds security-by-design principles while guiding a team and collaborating across engineering, product, network operations, and IT.

Responsibilities

• Lead Security Strategy & Architecture: Drive the architectural vision, strategy, and roadmap for enterprise information security across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise infrastructure
• Embed Security-by-Design: Establish security architecture standards, threat modeling frameworks, and safe design patterns for application development, infrastructure deployment, and third-party integrations
• Oversee Technical Governance: Define and enforce security baselines, reference architectures, and zero-trust principles across enterprise systems and network environments
• Manage Security Architecture Escalations: Provide technical leadership and guidance on high-severity security incidents, architectural vulnerability mitigations, and complex risk tradeoffs
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with engineering, network operations, product development, and IT leadership to integrate security controls seamlessly into delivery pipelines
• Vendor & Tooling Evaluation: Evaluate, select, and manage security architectural technologies, frameworks, and vendor solutions to address emerging threats and technology trends
• Program Delivery & Compliance: Ensure security architecture initiatives and compliance mapping are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with enterprise business objectives

Skills

• 12+ years of progressive experience in information security, cybersecurity architecture, and systems engineering, with a strong focus on cloud-native and enterprise environments
• 7+ years of leadership experience managing senior technical personnel or architecture teams, with proven success leading cross-functional strategic initiatives
• Deep technical expertise in cloud security architecture across major cloud providers, microservices, container security (Kubernetes, Docker), and API security
• Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex security risks into clear business impacts for technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience
