Are you the person who sees every commitment through to the finish? Our client, a well-established engineering and technology business, is looking for a driven Assistant Engineer to support its Engineering Services Manager. The role combines technical coordination, project administration and relentless follow-through.
POSITION INFO:
About the Role You will provide administrative, operational and technical support to keep engineering projects, departmental activities and stakeholder communication running smoothly. You will sit in high-level technical briefings, track every action to closure and make sure nothing slips. Key Responsibilities Attend technical briefings and meetings alongside the Engineering Services Manager Follow up on engineering items, actions and commitments until they are closed Escalate and resolve issues quickly, treating delays as problems to solve immediately Plan, coordinate and monitor engineering projects, including timelines, milestones and deliverables Maintain project trackers, action lists and progress reports, and flag risks early Liaise with engineers, contractors, suppliers, clients and internal teams on requirements and updates Coordinate project meetings and ensure follow-up actions are completed Escalate project risks, delays or operational concerns to management Minimum Requirements Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management or a similar technical qualification Minimum of 5 years' experience in a technical environment Experience in project coordination or project engineering Low and Medium Voltage electrical systems experience Advanced MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint Proficiency in project management or task-tracking software (e.g. MS Project, Jira) Ability to read and work with technical drawings, reports and specifications Knowledge of procurement and contract administration processes Exceptional command of English, with excellent written and verbal communication Advantageous Previous experience in an assistant or junior project management role Background in electrical, mechanical, data centre, construction or technical services environments The Person We Are Looking For A strong sense of urgency and a real drive to get things done Diligent, persistent and detail-driven, with a natural habit of following through Confident at chasing people politely but firmly Able to work independently and under pressure, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills Discreet with confidential information, with high emotional intelligence Flexible, with limited external commitments Important Information Permanent position, fully office-based in Midrand Candidates must reside in Midrand or the surrounding areas How to Apply If you are ready to take ownership of engineering projects and drive them to completion, apply here or send your CV to and use the vacancy name as the subject line.
