The Role and Why It's Important
Our Greeters set the tone for the entire shopping experience the moment a customer walks through the door. In this role, you'll be the first friendly face customers see, ready with a warm welcome, a prepared cart, and a genuine desire to make their visit a great one.

What You'll Do
No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:
Greet every customer with a smile as they enter the store, learning their names and making each interaction warm and welcoming
Ready carts for customers as they enter the store
Check receipts of customers who set off electronic devices when exiting the store
Note and pass along customer suggestions or requests and perform other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call
Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
Report to work when scheduled and on time
Your Skills
To be successful, you'll need to be able to:
Solve practical problems and interpret instructions across a variety of situations
Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
Guide customers and provide clear, helpful direction in a friendly and professional manner
Communicate effectively with customers and team members to support a positive store environment
Reporting Relationships
Accountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Service Managers
Education and Experience
No education requirement; six months or less of related work experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
Working Environment
This role is performed in a store environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift. You will have occasional exposure to equipment movement hazards and cleaning chemicals or solvents. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
