The SDET-1 role is a critical one for us given the demanding requirements of the business we are in. Services cannot be prone to error, and data must be accurate. Automating business workflows is essential, yet there is a constant need for a rapid development pace and quality deliverables. This role is built for the AI-augmented era of quality engineering. You'll own automation end-to-end across API, UI, and data layers within a single unified framework, and you'll lean on modern AI tooling - AI coding assistants, LLM-based test generation, self-healing tests, and anomaly detection - to move faster, cover more, and maintain less. We want someone who is on their toes, writes high-quality automated tests, shows prudence in judgement, brings depth to testing, and works well under pressure.
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end automation across API, UI, and SQL/data validation within our unified Playwright + TypeScript framework.
- Cover the full spectrum of testing- functional, integration, end-to-end, regression, performance, and security - and define the test strategy for the features you own.
- Work AI-first: use AI-augmented tooling (AI coding assistants, LLM-based test generation, self-healing locators, anomaly detection) to accelerate authoring, expand coverage, and cut maintenance.
- Engineer robust test data and harnesses for complex, high-throughput banking and card workflows.
- Integrate into CI/CD on Jenkins and GitHub Actions, keeping suites fast, stable, and signal-rich.
- Shift quality left by participating in design and code reviews and advocating for testability from the design stage.
- Debug and diagnose across services- analyse root causes from logs and dashboards and write clear, reproducible defect reports.
- Partner with client banks and fintechs to validate integrations across multiple environments.
- Craft and refine AI prompts and guardrails for tools that auto-generate test cases or flag anomalies, and document test strategy, AI integration, and automation coverage.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years in software test automation, with strong hands-on TypeScript (or JavaScript).
- Domain experience is a must- direct, hands-on testing in fintech, banking, or payments.
- Unified automation experience- automating API, UI, and SQL/data validation within a single framework (we use Playwright + TypeScript across all three).
- Strong API testing fundamentals and a solid grasp of RESTful web services and microservice architectures.
- API mocking is a must- hands-on with service virtualization/mocking (e. g., WireMock, Prism, or similar) to test integrations in isolation.
- Confident with SQL for data validation and reconciliation.
- Full-spectrum testing exposure: functional, integration, regression, and non-functional - performance/load (K6 JMeter, or similar) and security testing fundamentals.
- Self-healing, AI-assisted automation at scale is a must- proven experience building or maintaining resilient, AI-assisted test suites in production-scale environments.
- AI-augmented ways of working- prompt engineering and using AI assistants (e. g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) to generate test logic, data, or analysis.
- CI/CD hands-on with Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
- Docker and Kubernetes are a must- comfortable running and testing services in containerised environments.
- Secure, closed-network experience is a must- worked with closed infrastructure inside VPNs, with exposure to Accops, Palo Alto GlobalProtect, or similar secure remote-access / VDI tooling.
- Observability comfort- reading application logs and monitoring dashboards (Kibana, Grafana, or equivalent).
- Willing to travel to bank/client sites for on-site deployment and testing as needed.
- Top-notch communication- clear, precise written and verbal communication, with sharp debugging and root-cause analysis.
