Hourly Rate: $55.85 - $62.68

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Gas Welder is responsible for laying out and performing all types of welding on gas piping, equipment, structural members, and special devices. This role may also involve directing a team member assisting with welding operations and overseeing other related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform welding on gas piping, equipment, and structural components.
• Direct the work of a Gas Welder or Gas Fitter 1/C assisting with welding operations.
• Carry out duties related to equipment operation, digging, and traffic direction.
• Execute tasks typically assigned to a Gas Fitter 1/C.
• Adhere to safety regulations and best practices while performing welding duties.
• Complete other related or lower-skilled work as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of training for Gas Fitter 1/C as outlined in the Gas Department Training and Job Progression agreement.
• Prior welding experience gained through training or previous job experience.
• Successful completion of a welder qualification test (requalification required every three years).
• High school diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma recognized by New York State.
• Thorough knowledge of company gas practices and standards.
• Familiarity with company safety rules, first aid, and resuscitation methods.
• Ability to qualify for operator’s licenses as legally required.

Physical Requirements:

• Good overall health and physical condition, as determined by a company-administered physical examination.
• Adequate strength and endurance to perform labor-intensive tasks in various outdoor weather conditions.

Personal Attributes:

• Willingness to work extra or irregular hours as required.
• Ability to adapt to unusual or special working conditions.
• Strong attention to safety and hazard awareness.
