Our teams are empowered to share ideas, actively pursue them and bring on a challenge. As champions of internal mobility and access to opportunity, we encourage our people to “go for it” and equip our managers with the training to coach their teams to the next level. We strive to provide employees a safe space to network, share ideas and create opportunities.

To support strong partnership and team connection, this role follows a four day in office work model.

Location Overview

Cboe Global Markets operates a key office in the Overland Park Xchange (OPx), located in Overland Park, Kansas, a bustling suburb of Kansas City. TheOPxbusiness park is strategically positioned to provide convenient access to the Kansas City metropolitan area, offering modern infrastructure and a collaborative environment ideal for the financial services and technology industries. This location benefits from proximity to major highways, making it easily accessible for employees

TheOPxsite provides a balance of high-quality office space, advanced facilities, and an environment conducive to productivity and growth.

Role Overview

We're looking for an engineer who thinks in systems, leads with vision, and sees AI as a force multiplier for everything we build and ship. As part of our Build and Release Management team, you'll own the future of how Cboe tests and delivers software - defining where our engineering practice is headed, architecting a next-generation CI/CD pipeline, and embedding AI across the DevOps lifecycle.

At the heart of this role is Cboe Titanium (Cboe Ti), our high-performance, globally consistent and locally optimized exchange platform designed to support Cboe's trading operations across options, futures, and equities markets worldwide. You'll be a key driver in shaping how Cboe Ti is built, tested, and released and ensure the platform continues to meet the exacting demands of global markets with speed, precision, and reliability.

This is a hands-on and highly technical role focusing on managing the software build process, providing oversight for build/test environments, developing and supporting testing tools and status dashboards, influencing and shaping our continuous integration process, and ensuring our weekly release process is successful. You'll set the standard for what great looks like at a company where reliability is measured in microseconds and releases happen every week.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Define and drive the vision for Cboe's build and release engineering practice - from pipeline architecture to tooling strategy to long-term roadmap
  • Lead AI adoption across the DevOps lifecycle - deploying intelligent automation for changelog generation, incident summarization, deployment workflows, and infrastructure-as-code generation. Not just using AI tools, but building with them
  • Architect, evolve, and own a high-performance CI/CD pipeline that supports weekly production releases to mission-critical financial systems
  • Champion an automation-first culture - if a human is doing it repeatedly, build something smarter
  • Oversee build, test, and release environments end-to-end, with a relentless focus on reliability, observability, and rapid recovery
  • Develop and maintain testing tools, dashboards, and status reporting that give engineers the visibility they need to move fast with confidence
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to influence software design for testability, deployability, and operational excellence, serving as a trusted advisor and thought leader who actively extends best practices to other groups, technologies, and applications across the enterprise
  • Stay ahead of the curve - continuously evaluate and introduce emerging technologies that keep Cboe's engineering practice at the leading edge

The Ideal Candidate Has:

Vision and Leadership:

  • A strategic, forward-thinking mindset - you don't just solve today's problems, you design systems that scale
  • Strong analytical skills and an exacting attention to detail
  • The ability to build consensus, communicate clearly, and lead change across cross-functional teams

AI and Automation (Critical Differentiator)

  • Hands-on experience deploying AI to automate real DevOps workflows - think intelligent release pipelines, AI-assisted code review, automated incident triage, and beyond
  • Practical experience with tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar
  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks - LangChain, AutoGen, or equivalents and applied to build orchestration or infrastructure challenges
  • A builder's instinct: you see where AI can remove friction and you act on it
  • We're looking for someone with at least 1 year of hands-on experience applying AI tools or agentic frameworks (e.g., Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, LangChain, AutoGen) to real engineering workflows. We recognize agentic AI tooling is still maturing industry-wide, so we're prioritizing depth of practical application over tenure with any specific tool.

Core Engineering Skills

  • Advanced Linux expertise: system administration, hardware/software environments, shell scripting
  • Extensive Python development or scripting experience
  • Network administration, configuration management, and technical troubleshooting
  • Deep experience with Git-based version control and branching strategies
  • Strong CI/CD tooling experience, including Jenkins
  • Containerization and virtualization: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS
  • We'll prioritize candidates who have 5+ years of experience in software build/release engineering, CI/CD, or DevOps within large-scale or mission-critical systems

Supporting Technical Skills

  • Build tools: Maven, CMake
  • Package managers: uv, npm
  • Databases: PostgreSQL (preferred), MySQL or Oracle; working SQL proficiency required
  • Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field - or equivalent experience

You'll really stand out with:

  • Experience in financial markets with working knowledge of order entry or market data protocols
  • A track record of taking a build practice from reactive to proactive and making it stick
