The company develops, manufactures, and distributes diagnostic products, equipment, and software for the veterinary, livestock, poultry, and dairy markets, as well as testing solutions for water quality. It operates globally through a network of reference laboratories and sales offices, serving customers in over 175 countries and maintaining a listing on the NASDAQ Stock Market.

IDEXX Veterinary Software is seeking a Senior Program Manager with proven M&A integration experience to join our Strategy & Operations organization. In this role, you will lead complex, cross-functional programs that directly advance VetSoft’s most critical strategic priorities including the successful integration of acquired businesses into VetSoft’s operating model. You will operate as a force multiplier for the business, aligning executive vision with disciplined execution, driving clarity across stakeholders, and ensuring measurable outcomes at scale, from Day 1 planning through full synergy realization. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and have led organizations through the complexity of M&A integration, this role is perfect for you!

In this role:

Program Strategy & Alignment

  • Partner with Senior Leadership to translate strategic priorities, including M&A rationale and synergy targets, into scalable, cross-functional programs with clear outcomes, KPIs, and value realization plans.

  • Shape program roadmaps that align multiple workstreams, including acquired-company integration, to enterprise objectives, ensuring sequencing, resource alignment, and long-term sustainability.

  • Drive clarity on scope, interdependencies, trade-offs, and decision frameworks across complex initiatives, including integration-specific trade-offs such as system consolidation, org design, and process harmonization.

Program Leadership & Execution

  • Lead large-scale, global, cross-functional programs from concept through implementation, ensuring delivery against strategic objectives and timelines.

  • Lead end-to-end M&A integration planning and execution, including Day 1/Day 100 readiness, Integration Management Office (IMO) leadership, and synergy tracking against the deal’s business case.

  • Design and implement governance models, operating cadences, and Leadership reporting structures including integration steering committees and workstream leads that drive transparency and accountability.

  • Anticipate, identify, and mitigate systemic risks and cross-program dependencies, including integration-specific risks such as customer and employee retention, cultural alignment, and system cutover; proactively resolve barriers to execution.

  • Champion disciplined execution while maintaining agility in dynamic, high-growth environments, balancing the pace of integration with business continuity.

  • Institutionalize best practices and scalable integration playbooks and processes that improve organizational effectiveness beyond the life of any single deal.

Executive & Stakeholder Influence

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and deal teams, providing data-driven insights, structured recommendations, and clear decision support throughout diligence and integration.

  • Influence and align stakeholders across functions, geographies, legacy organizations, and levels without direct authority.

  • Drive executive communication, including steering committee updates and strategic recommendations on integration progress, risks, and synergy realization.

  • Foster strong partnerships with internal teams and external partners including acquired-company leadership and workstream leads to ensure alignment, engagement, and shared ownership of outcomes.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience leading complex, cross-functional programs in a fast-paced, matrixed organization, including direct experience leading M&A integration efforts.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels connecting enterprise vision to disciplined execution.

  • Strong business acumen, financial literacy, and experience managing programs with measurable ROI, including tracking and reporting on deal synergies.

  • Expertise in program governance, risk management, change management, and organizational alignment, with specific experience navigating the cultural and organizational change inherent in integrating acquired businesses.

  • Exceptional executive communication skills, with experience presenting to and influencing senior leadership and deal or integration steering committees.

  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, including legacy teams from newly acquired organizations.

  • Proficiency in program management and collaboration tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams).

  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification and M&A integration credentials (e.g., AM&AA, M&A Leadership Council) a plus.
