Engineering - Leadership

Responsibilities:

• Technology Strategy and Vision: Define and execute the bank's engineering and technology roadmap in alignment with business goals and customer expectations. Champion innovation and long-term technology planning to maintain competitive advantage.
• Digital Platform Delivery: Lead the end-to-end development and deployment of digital banking products, including mobile apps, online banking, and merchant platforms. Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of digital initiatives from concept to production.
• Engineering Leadership and Talent Development: Build and lead high-performing, agile engineering teams. Attract top talent, foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, and provide mentorship and career development opportunities.
• Architecture and Modernisation: Own and evolve the bank's technology stack and architectural vision. Drive modernisation efforts using cloud-native architectures, microservices, and scalable design principles.
• Innovation and Transformation: Identify and integrate emerging technologies such as Generative AI, advanced analytics, and cloud computing. Lead large-scale engineering transformations, including Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD adoption.
• Technical Excellence and Quality Assurance: Establish and continuously improve engineering standards and best practices. Ensure delivery of robust, scalable, and resilient software solutions.
• Risk Management and Compliance: Embed cybersecurity and risk controls throughout the development lifecycle. Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with leaders across product, business, operations, and risk to align priorities and manage dependencies. Facilitate seamless collaboration to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Vendor and Ecosystem Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners. Ensure cost-effective and high-quality external solutions.
• Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the engineering budget and optimise resource allocation to maximise impact and efficiency.

Requirements:

• 15+ years in technology leadership roles within banking, financial services, or fintech.
• Proven success in leading large-scale digital transformation and complex technology programs.

Technical Expertise:

• Deep knowledge of digital banking platforms, payment systems, and financial technologies.
• Strong proficiency in modern tech stacks including GenAI, machine learning, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), APIs, microservices, and DevOps.

Leadership and Strategic Delivery:

• Visionary leader with the ability to inspire teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Skilled in translating business needs into actionable technology roadmaps.

Risk and Financial Acumen:

• Strong understanding of financial services risk and control frameworks.
• Capable of making strategic trade-offs balancing customer experience, compliance, and business goals.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Adept at navigating complex challenges and driving consensus across diverse teams.
