Project Accountant

Imagine1day® is a non-profit international organization established in 2007 by Chip and Summer Wilson. Dedicated to creating better access to education, Imagine1day® is transforming generations through its focus on Education, Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), WASH, and Transformational Leadership.

In Ethiopia, the organization has been implementing projects across Tigray, Oromia, Central Ethiopia, Southwest Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, Sidama, Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, Somali, and Gambella regions. To date, it has partnered with more than 1,105 schools, constructed 188 school buildings/learning centers, enrolled over 188,000 previously out-of-school children, reached more than 817,000 children with education in emergency and protection services, and positively impacted over 740,000 people through education and transformational leadership programs.

Position title:              Project Account

Reporting to:             Regional program Coordinator and Functionaly report to the Finance manager at the country Office 

Location:                    South West Ethiopia Region – Mizan Tepi Town 

Duration of Contract:    Ten Month with possibility of extension 

Salary: As per the organization salary scale

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the adherence of financial policies & procedures, internal control, cash management, budgeting, budget monitoring, financial reporting, audit facilitation, staff supervision and support. Also responsible for the proper functioning of the finance units in in Ethiopia country office in all matters involving finance and control and management of assets

Roles and Responsibilities include,

• Ensure Compliance with I1D’s policies and procedures and with the regulations and laws of the government of Ethiopia in all financial matters; 
• Be responsible for ensuring proper controls over all Imagine1day regional office assets and for maintenance of proper systems and procedures for all accounting transactions. 
• Responsible for the preparation of monthly budget variance by project with a project cash flow analysis and report to Finance coordinator
• Review the regional monthly financial reports against the documents.
• Be responsible for handing cash request from regionals as per the Standard in a monthly basis.
• Responsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly donor template reports to finance coordinator
• Responsible for the review of sub grant partners report
• Responsible for the Income tax, pension and PF payment in a monthly basis
• Responsible for Clearing payables and Receivables in a monthly basis 
• Responsible for the preparation of Bank reconciliations in a monthly basis.
• Review the Record transactions in appropriate ledgers and posting the transaction to QB in a monthly basis.
• Responsible for the proper functioning of the finance units in all offices in all matters involving finance and control and management of assets.
• Perform other duties assigned by Finance Coordinator and program coordinator

Requirements:

• BA degree in Accounting and Finance-related fields
• Total of five years of experience in Finance & related
• Minimum two years’ work experience as a project accountant  or INGO experience is desirable
• Advanced MS Excel skills, SAP, QuickBooks, Tableau
• Knowledge of financial regulations
• Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills
• Sharp time management skills
• Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
