Do you lead a team of Finance Business Partners, within a Banking or Financial Services business? Have you been coaching and leading a small team and looking for your next career move? This role reports to the Head of Finance Business Advice (report to the CFO) and leads a team of 5 Business Partners supporting the two largest divisions in the Bank.

Step into a Finance leadership role with real influence over the performance, investment choices and strategic direction of Retail and Wholesale Banking Australia.

This is a role for a commercially sharp Finance leader who wants to be close to the decisions that matter. You will manage the Finance Business Advice team for Retail & Wholesale Banking, providing senior finance business partnering and decision support across Retail Banking, Business Banking and Wholesale Banking.

You will own the business performance narrative, turn complex financial and commercial drivers into clear recommendations, and supporting senior business owners make secure decisions across growth, cost, capital, funding, investment and customer/client economics.

What you'll do

  • Own the Retail and Wholesale Banking performance narrative across actual results, forecasting, planning and senior business reviews.

  • Advise senior business managers on growth, cost, capital, funding, investment and customer/client economics, translating insight into practical recommendations and trade-offs.

  • Run and enhance the Retail & Wholesale Banking Finance Business Advice team, setting clear priorities, high standards, succession depth and capability growth across Retail Banking, Business Banking and Wholesale Banking.

  • Connect income, costs, workforce drivers, balance sheet usage, funding, capital, investment choices and customer/client economics into a clear view of business performance.

  • Support Finance lift from reporting performance to shaping decisions

  • Provide senior oversight of investment economics, benefits realisation, funding, capital, and value, cost and capital implications across Retail and Wholesale Banking.

What we're looking for

  • CA/CPA qualification or equivalent professional experience, with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.

  • Senior Finance leadership experience, with a track record of leading teams, setting high standards, building capability and bringing strong commercial judgement and executive presence.

  • Significant experience in banking or financial services Finance, including business partnering, planning, forecasting, performance management and executive-level decision support.

  • A sound understanding of Retail, Business Banking and Wholesale Banking economics.

  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders through clear insights, practical recommendations and the confidence to take a view.

  • Proven ability to manage through change, clarify ownership, lift standards and build capability in a senior Finance team.

  • Strong commercial judgement across business performance, customer/client economics, investment choices, funding, capital and the trade-offs that drive value.
