ING is a Dutch banking group formed in 1991 by the merger of the postal bank NMB Postbank and the insurer Nationale-Nederlanden, and it was among the first large banks to build a direct, branch-light retail model. It serves retail customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Spain and several other markets through mobile-first banking, and runs a substantial wholesale bank covering lending, transaction services and financial markets for corporate clients. Headquartered in Amsterdam and listed on Euronext, the group divested its insurance operations after the financial crisis to focus on banking.

Financial Markets (FM) is the Bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services, and guidance. FM aims to be a significant player in our market leader and challenger markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

The team

The eFX sales team is an integral part of the ING Financial Markets business and is involved in driving the bank’s ambition for digitalisation. Our clients are based all over the world and are both institutional and corporate clients. Our main goal is to help our clients execute foreign exchange transactions electronically, as well as helping clients navigate the electronic FX landscape and make informed trading decisions. We offer a range of products, including FX spot, forwards, swaps, NDFs, options and algorithmic order strategies.

Role & Work Environment

As an eFX Sales intern you will help shape the future of electronic foreign exchange by using data to uncover opportunities that create value for clients and improve business performance. Working closely with sales, trading, and technology teams, you will translate insights into tangible solutions and contribute to strategic initiatives across the FX business.

  • Work alongside sales, trading and technology specialists to investigate business questions and develop solutions.
  • Present your findings and recommendations to stakeholders across Financial Markets.
  • Support initiatives that improve efficiency, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

In other words, you strive to bring fresh ideas to life and embrace challenges in a fast changing and complex environment. You are a naturally collaborative person who listens and invests in others to achieve common goals. You love to challenge the status quo and are eager to propose creative solutions to problems.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong advantage.
  • Proactive, organized and willing to take ownership of your work.
  • A strong team player who enjoys working in diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Interested in global markets, data analytics and technology.
  • Comfortable working with data and eager to develop analytical skills.
