Head of Engineering

Requirements:

• You have 8+ years of building product. You have owned something end-to-end, not a module, not a feature, but a product that real users depended on and that you were accountable for keeping standing.
• You code. Hands dirty. You are not a manager who stopped shipping.
• You think like a PM/founder. You talk to users, you prioritise ruthlessly, you make product calls without being asked. We are not hiring a PM alongside you.
• You have built with voice technology.
• You know how to take spoken audio from a user, convert it to text accurately enough for a clinical context, pass it through a language model, generate a response, and deliver it back as natural-sounding speech fast enough that the conversation doesn't feel broken.
• You understand why response latency matters in a voice conversation in a way it doesn't in a messaging interface.
• You have thought about what happens when a patient speaks over the agent, when there is silence, and when the audio quality is poor.
• You have ML exposure. You have done ML projects, trained and fine-tuned a model, understood what goes into managing training data, and evaluated outputs rigorously. You know how RAGs, caching and compression work and when to use them.
• You have built or worked closely with conversational AI systems, and you understand the difference between a good agent architecture and a fragile one.
• You have worked at an early-stage startup.
• You know what it means to build something from nothing and keep it standing.
• You have made decisions under uncertainty without a committee.
• You understand that the data architecture you design in the first six months will determine what the Head of AI (next hire) can do with it. You make schema decisions with that in mind.
