Role Overview

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll work on building an innovative fintech platform. Projects span contributing to foundational financial ledger and reconciliation systems, shipping a robust payments platform, or adding decision-critical reporting for CFOs who use Integral as their source of truth. You will join a world-class team from companies like Palantir, Paypal, Amazon, Meta, Unity, Shopify, and VMWare. We're excited for you to contribute solutions that power entire business operations and deliver real-time accuracy and insight.

Responsibilities

• Design and build advanced, scalable backend systems to support a leading-edge fintech platform.
• Develop a new financial ledger system and reconciliation infrastructure.
• Work with large datasets and resolve complex transactional issues with high accuracy.
• Optimize database performance and maintain critical data integrity.
• Deliver insightful, actionable reports to enhance client decision-making.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and design to deliver high-quality solutions at speed.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and fintech trends.

Our Technical Stack

• Languages & Frameworks: TypeScript (NestJS backend, vanilla React frontend)
• Infra: GCP, Docker, Pulumi for IaC, Temporal, Postgres, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions CI/CD

Your Experience

• Studied Computer Science or closely related technical field.
• 5+ years of backend or fullstack engineering experience (Intermediate or Senior level).
• 3+ years building fintech or financial software systems, with exposure to reporting and compliance.
• Hands-on experience designing systems that process and reconcile massive transaction volumes.
• Bonus: Experience integrating or developing features for accounting platforms (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite).
• Bonus: Understanding of financial reporting and compliance workflows.

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is CA$170,000 - CA$210,000 per year.
