The Manufacturing Shift Manager is the highest leader on shift during compressed work week (CWW) hours, serving as the primary owner for overall fabrication performance, safety, quality, output, tool availability and cost indicators for your respective shift. Operating with a high degree of organizational influence, this non-direct people manager leads, coaches, and develops shift teams while fostering a professional and collaborative environment in close partnership with CWW group leaders.

The role demands strong tactical execution, including facilitating shiftly operations meetings, upskilling group leaders, tracking key performance metrics, and managing real-time line decision making capabilities.

Additionally the Manufacturing Shift Manager will provide critical 24x7 senior management coverage, manages Level 1 Task Force activities on the respective shift, and oversees all campus aspects - including Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and excursion management - during nights, weekends, and holidays.

The Manufacturing Shift Manager is a senior technical and operational leadership role responsible for coordinating shift execution and providing operational direction.

The role does not have direct people management responsibility, authority to make employment decisions, or responsibility for performance management or compensation decisions.

  • Tactical Operations: Serve as primary owner for shift operations, driving safety, quality, output, and tool availability to exceed factory goals.

  • Strategic Alignment: Facilitate shiftly tactical operations meetings to translate complex factory data into clear priorities and weekly objectives for your owning shift.

  • Team Leadership: Drive operational performance through coaching, influence, escalation and alignment with Group Leaders and Department Managers

  • Group Leader Mentorship: Provide performance matrix management and upskilling for Group Leaders, executing 2:1 coaching reviews every eight weeks with owning Department Managers.

  • Performance Metrics: Responsible for driving improvement and coordinating actions against shift-level performance indicators including safety, quality and operational metrics and Emergency Response Team membership, participation and effectiveness for your respective shift, highlighting and resolving any / all issues which impact one of these metrices until metric is fully returned to baseline.

  • Resource Allocation: Manage shift resources effectively by executing Tier 1 and Tier 2 toolset priorities and PAS to goals.

  • Decision Making: Formulate critical tactical line decisions, managing long tool downtimes and escalating operational interventions when necessary to ensure effective 24x7 capability for your shift.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Department Managers, Factory Managers, and operational peers to increase the overall performance of your CWW shift and the factory, taking ownership of various operational projects / pillars as required.

  • On-Call Coverage: Provide critical 24x7 senior management coverage as a designated replacement for the Department Manager.

  • Continuous Improvement: Champion factory safety / yield / operational activities, through deep knowledge of the factory process as required in support overall factory health and performance.

The position will be expected to provide direction and implement lean solutions to resolve the range of issues that impact factory performance and enable the factory to achieve its overall performance goals.

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Qualifications listed as preferred or additional will be considered a plus factor for applicants.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or related field of study.

  • 5 + years of experience within semiconductor industry in any of the following aspects:

  • Engineering / Production Engineer Group Leader experience and Module Team leader experience

  • Practical Line Management knowledge and understanding of factory information systems.

  • Manufacturing science, Capacity Metrics, In-line and EOL defect and excursion prevention/ response, Model Based Problem Solving, and People Management skills.

The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Respond to actual factory situations in a real-time, high cadence manner

  • Influence at all levels of the organization from Factory Manager to Manufacturing Technicians to drive factory performance and optimize factory metrics.

  • Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is necessary so that they can effectively coach shift production managers, modules and effectively solve problems.

  • Effectively coach/train shift Group Leaders on Manufacturing science, Capacity Metrics, In-line and EOL defect and excursion prevention/response, Model Based Problem Solving, and People Management.

  • Informal leadership and influencing skills.

  • Apply theoretical knowledge.

Annual Salary Range for this job which could be performed in Ireland is: € 103.000,00 - € 161.000,00 The compensation range displayed in this posting reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for this position. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job related skills, experience, and relevant education, training. As part of our total compensation approach, the final offer may include additional pay components and benefits. Your recruiting team will share the confirmed base salary along with any applicable total compensation elements upon employment offer delivery.
