The Role and Impact

As a Software Solutions Engineering PhD Intern, you will contribute to developing integrated software solutions tailored to customer and platform needs. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, assisting in solution architecture, prototyping features, and analyzing performance across diverse workloads. You will be part of the Intel Foundry Business Group, which focuses on delivering cutting-edge solutions that support Intel's strategic initiatives and technological advancements. The group works on diverse projects across automation, AI platforms, and software solutions, with a commitment to innovation and collaboration to create impactful results.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of integrated software solutions tailored to customer and platform needs.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and customer engineering teams to deliver scalable and optimized solutions.
• Support solution architecture, feature prototyping, and performance analysis across diverse workloads and environments.
• Solve technical problems through experimentation and present results via well-structured documentation.
• Work on computer vision, AI image analytics, and machine learning at scale to address complex challenges.
• Utilize frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and OpenCV to develop and deploy solutions.
• Test and program in Linux and Windows environments while leveraging version control tools like Git.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. student in Computer Science, Electronics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Fluency in Python programming language.
• Experience with programming and testing on Linux/Windows environments.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, CI).
• Strong understanding of Computer Vision and Deep Learning techniques.
• Proficiency in frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenCV.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and algorithm design skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with databases (SQL) and full-stack web development.
• Scientific publications in fields such as Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Electronics, or Computer Science.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams and divisions.

You must also be available for a six-month internship in 2027, with preferred start date in January.

The minimum Annual Salary for this job which could be performed in Ireland is: 35 100,00 € The job posting reflects the minimum base compensation for this role. Our standard internship rates are aligned with the specific job role and degree level. As part of our total compensation approach, the final offer may also include additional pay components and benefits. Your recruiting team will provide the confirmed base salary along with any applicable total compensation elements upon employment offer delivery.
