Job Title: Data Engineer II

Department: Development

Reporting to: Manager of Data Engineering

Location:Baltimore, MD. This is a hybrid role with 3-days per week required to be worked in the Baltimore, MD office.

Hours of work:Typical hours of work are from 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM local time Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be necessary as needed. This position is exempt from overtime.

Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 annually.

Overview:

TheData Engineer II is a highly technical, client-facing role responsible for supporting the implementation, integration, and configuration of data solutions while serving as a trusted technical resource for internal and external technical and non-technical partners. This role requiresstrong communicationand problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts, navigate challenges, and develop effective solutions while working closely with clients and cross-functional teams.

Essential Functions:

• Client Partnership: Serve asprimarytechnical point of contact for assigned clients, developing strong working relationships and building trust throughout the engagement.

• Technical Consultation: Work directlywith clients to understand their technical needs, data requirements, workflows, and challenges, and translate those needs into practical technical solutions.

• Client Engagement:Build strong, trusted working relationships with client technical and non-technical stakeholders across the full client lifecycle, and clearly explain technical concepts, data processes, system functionality, and proposed solutions.
• Professional Services: Work directly with clients to understand their data requirements, workflows, and challenges, and deliver practical technical solutions such as data migrations, integrations, and configuration.

• Database Design & Management: Develop andmaintaindatabases, data warehouses, and other data storage solutions, ensuring they meet the company and client’s data needs and business goals.

• Data Pipeline andETL/ELT Processes:Design, build and deploy robustETL/ELTpipelines and staging transformations to migrate and synchronize datasets with targetschemas.
• DataQuality & Governance: Ensure high data quality and availability by implementingappropriate monitoring, testing, and validation techniques.

• Collaboration: Work closely with data integration engineers, business analysts, and software engineers to understand their data requirements and providetimelysolutions.

• Data Security & Compliance: Ensure that all data solutionscomply withdata security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

• Performance Optimization: Continuouslymonitorthe performance of data systems and make improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, ora relatedfield.

• Proven experience (3+ years) as aData Engineer, or in a similar role.

• External client-facing experience.

• Proficiencyin database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).

• Strong experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes.

• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS)

• Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data quality best practices.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into data architecture solutions.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
