Headquartered in Espoo, Finland, IQM Quantum Computers is a European leader in the development and manufacturing of superconducting quantum computers. Founded in 2018 as a spin-out from Aalto University and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the company builds full-stack quantum hardware and integrated systems for supercomputing centers and research laboratories. Through innovative application-specific architectures and on-premises deployments, the enterprise aims to advance practical quantum computing to tackle complex problems beyond the reach of classical machines.

At IQM, we build world-leading quantum computers for the well-being of humankind. We design systems to tackle computational challenges beyond the practical limits of classical machines. Our work sits at the edge of science and engineering. It's complex, demanding, and deeply collaborative. We turn deep research into reliable, full-stack systems that drive discoveries in fields like medicine, energy, and technology, reshaping how the world computes.

Join the team that gives quantum a heartbeat.

The work

Our Production team builds and tests the subassemblies that go into IQM's quantum computer systems. Production has ramped up fast and the team has grown quickly. Now the team needs a leader who brings clarity - clear targets, priorities and roles - and leads the way as production keeps growing.

As our Team Leader, Production, you’ll lead the team day to day, make our output measurable and take our ways of working to the next level. You’ll work closely with our Production Planner, the development team, Quality, Warehouse & Logistics, Procurement and Facilities, with our internal customers in Data Center Services and Delivery, and with our suppliers. You’ll report to our Head of Production.

This is an onsite role. Your place is on the production floor with your team: seeing what happens, listening, and taking ownership of whatever needs fixing.

What you’ll actually do

  • Set clear targets and KPIs for your team - what we deliver in a week and in a month - track them and make progress visible, so everyone knows where we stand.

  • Plan the weekly work together with our Production Planner, keep production flowing, and oversee the assembly and testing of our subassemblies.

  • Turn production data into decisions: own metrics such as scrap, make sure non-conformities are reported and handled properly, and use what you learn to drive a visible step up in quality and flow.

  • Make sure problems get solved. You don’t need to debug systems yourself - our experienced team and development engineers bring the technical depth - but you bring the right people together and drive issues to closure.

  • Develop our production area and processes with Lean principles, such as one-piece flow, 5S and daily management, and coach your team members to grow, while keeping wellbeing, safety and quality in focus.

  • Own change management in production: be the gatekeeper for what comes into production, make sure new product handovers reach your team with quality, and be the go-to contact for stakeholders on all things production.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience leading a team in a technology production or manufacturing environment - ideally 3+ years leading technicians or operators - and a genuine drive to lead people.

  • A track record of setting targets, following up on KPIs and leading change, so that new processes and ways of working actually stick.

  • Hands-on experience applying Lean manufacturing principles, such as one-piece flow, 5S and daily management, and a drive for continuous improvement.

  • A degree in engineering or another relevant technical field, or at least 7 years of relevant work experience. You understand electronics and mechanics design processes, files and documentation

  • Excellent communication and real ownership: you discuss plans, schedules, results and constraints clearly, act on issues instead of waiting, turn errors into learnings, and keep a sharp eye on detail and quality. When plans change (and here they do), you adapt and keep moving.

Seen as advantage

  • Understanding of the tools, machinery and systems used in a production environment

  • A background in electronics

Why IQM?

  • Full-stack quantum computing: From quantum hardware to software layers and beyond, we build across the full-stack.

  • Never the smartest: You won’t always be the smartest person in the room. Neither will we. Expect to learn constantly - from each other and beyond with IQM’s Learning Hub, LinkedIn Learning, and a team-based L&D budget.

  • Approachable leadership: Flat hierarchy, direct access. Feel free to approach any leaders. They're friendlier than they look!

  • The sweet spot: Big enough to matter. Small enough to move fast. Growing between a startup and a corporation. We’re in the phase where top performers get noticed.

  • Bigger than IQM: Our people build know-how for the entire quantum ecosystem. We publish papers, run hackathons, and help shape a market that's still being defined.

The future of computing won’t build itself. You might be one of the few who do.

We'll start interviews and move forward with hiring as soon as we meet strong candidates. Please submit your application soon.
