Working closely with the Global Head of Tax and stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, Legal, Sales, Procurement, and IT, you will play a key role in strengthening the company’s tax control framework, compliance processes, and technology landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Manage VAT compliance activities for German group entities, including tax filings and reporting obligations.
Coordinate VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, annual filings, and related indirect tax compliance processes.
Partner with external advisors and tax authorities on VAT audits, assessments, and compliance matters.
Monitor changes in VAT legislation and implement required updates to tax processes and controls.
Lead and continuously enhance the Group’s Tax Compliance Management System (Tax CMS).
Develop, document, and improve tax controls, governance frameworks, and compliance procedures.
Identify and mitigate tax compliance risks in collaboration with business stakeholders.
Support tax technology initiatives, including SAP, e-invoicing, and digital reporting projects.
Drive process improvement, AI-based automation, and digital transformation initiatives within the tax function.
Provide practical tax guidance, training, and support to stakeholders across the business.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in Taxation, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
German Tax Advisor qualification (Steuerberater).
5+ years of experience in indirect tax, VAT advisory, tax compliance, or in-house tax functions.
Strong expertise in German VAT and indirect tax regulations.
Experience managing VAT compliance processes and reporting obligations.
Knowledge of Tax CMS, tax governance, controls, and compliance frameworks.
Experience working with process documentation and risk management activities.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate complex tax matters to both tax and non-tax stakeholders.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced international environment.
Strong stakeholder management experience across Finance, Legal, IT, Procurement, and Operations.
Fluent German and English language skills (C1 and above).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within a Big 4 environment, VAT advisory practice, or multinational organization.
Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and tax-related ERP processes.
Exposure to SAP DRC, e-invoicing, and digital tax reporting requirements.
Experience implementing or enhancing Tax Compliance Management Systems (Tax CMS).
Knowledge of tax controls, governance frameworks, and compliance monitoring.
Exposure to withholding tax processes and related operational controls.
Experience driving tax technology, automation, or digital transformation projects.
Interest in AI-enabled tax processes and emerging tax technologies.
