Our client, a leading company in the mobile crushing, screening, and material-handling equipment sector, is seeking a skilled Assembly Fitter to join their workshop team in Johannesburg, East Rand. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and quality-focused assembly of machines and sub-assemblies across the company's range of equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble machines, components, and sub-assemblies according to approved assembly instructions and specifications
- Read and interpret assembly drawings and technical documentation
- Install hydraulic circuits by accurately interpreting and working from hydraulic diagrams
- Identify and report non-conforming components or completed work to the Team Leader for corrective action
- Ensure all assembly work meets the required quality and workmanship standards
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the workshop
- Assist with general workshop duties when required
- Provide practical solutions to technical and assembly-related challenges
- Work overtime when required to meet operational demands
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and departmental requirements
- Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations and procedures are consistently followed
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational requirements
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment
- Take responsibility for the safe and correct execution of all assigned work
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar assembly or fitting environment
- OEM Fitting experience
- Qualified Fitter with recognised trade certification / trade papers
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic diagrams
- Strong mechanical and assembly skills
- Previous experience working with conveyors, crushers, screens, or similar heavy equipment will be advantageous
- Good problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and meet required deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Good organisational and planning skills
- Results-driven, reliable, and accountable
- Perseverance and a practical, solutions-focused approach
