Key Responsibilities

  • Dictaphone and copy-typing of legal documents
  • Typing, formatting and collating notices and pleadings
  • Matter management and maintaining court files
  • Issuing, uploading and sorting pleadings
  • Managing matters on CourtOnline and CaseLines
  • Preparing counsel, client and resource files
  • Opening new matters and assisting with client onboarding
  • Diary, telephone and email management
  • Preparing draft correspondence and responses
  • Capturing timesheets and preparing pre-bills/billing memos
  • Assisting with debtors and debt collection
  • Managing FICA administration
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, experts and service providers
  • Assisting with large matters, tenders and presentations

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience as a Legal Secretary within Litigation
  • Strong High Court litigation / motion proceedings experience
  • Experience working in a large law firm advantageous
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Aderant Expert (CMS) and FileSite
  • Sound working knowledge of CourtOnline and CaseLines
  • Matric essential
  • Legal Secretarial Diploma / Paralegal qualification advantageous
