Automation Engineer

Job Description:

• Develop, modify and maintain PLC programs for industrial automation projects
• Design, configure and support SCADA and HMI applications
• Commission, test and optimise control systems for new and existing facilities
• Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, instrumentation and communication network issues
• Support system integration between control systems, field devices and operational technologies
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance and operations teams to deliver automation projects
• Prepare functional design specifications, technical documentation and commissioning reports

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 3-7 years of experience in PLC Programming, SCADA Development or Automation Engineering
• Strong PLC programming experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi or Beckhoff systems
• Experience developing SCADA platforms such as Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC, AVEVA, Citect or FactoryTalk
• Proficient in HMI development, control system integration and industrial networking
• Experience with industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP and OPC-UA
• Strong fault-finding, debugging and commissioning experience within industrial environments
• Experience working with instrumentation, VSDs, motors and process control systems
• Knowledge of control panel design and electrical schematics advantageous

Qualification:

• BEng, BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, Control or Automation Engineering
