Junior Export Sales Consultant, responsible for growing sales across Sub-Saharan Africa by developing existing customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities. This exciting role combines international travel, strategic sales, and account management
Responsibilities & Duties
1. Sales Growth & Business Development
Develop and implement export sales plans to achieve sales targets.
Promote and sell merchandise, sample books, partnership programmes, and special import ranges.
Maintain and expand relationships with existing export customers.
Identify, prospect, and secure new customers across focus export countries.
Demonstrate products and conduct professional sales presentations.
Promote new product launches, specials, and promotional campaigns.
Recommend replacement products for discontinued or out-of-stock items.
Prepare travel schedules to maximise customer visits and sales opportunities.
Complete partnership applications and customer account documentation.
Monitor back orders, credits, and customer follow-ups.
Maintain accurate customer records and sales databases.
Submit weekly and monthly sales reports.
Attend sales meetings, trade exhibitions, and industry workshops.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer buying patterns to identify new opportunities.
2. Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with export customers.
Provide excellent customer service and professional communication.
Identify customer requirements and communicate market feedback to management.
Resolve customer complaints and queries promptly.
Keep customers informed regarding orders and delivery schedules.
Conduct regular visits to key customers.
Deliver high-quality product demonstrations and presentations.
3. Product & Stock Management
Advise customers on product selection, pricing, and product care.
Promote international product ranges and new collections.
Distribute and maintain marketing materials and sample books.
Ensure sample books, fabric cuttings, and display materials are current.
Monitor stock availability and recommend alternatives when necessary.
Assist with merchandising standards.
Support promotional activities for slow-moving stock.
Provide market feedback to assist with pricing strategies.
Ensure company merchandising and product policies are followed.
4. Financial Administration
Support accurate invoicing and payment processes.
Resolve customer account queries before processing orders.
Follow up outstanding payments with customers and Finance.
Assist in preparing and managing sales budgets.
Monitor margins and control business expenses.
Manage petty cash and complete reconciliations where required.
Ensure cost control measures are implemented and maintained.
5. Reporting & Administration
Maintain accurate customer and sales records.
Prepare sales forecasts and activity reports.
Provide operational feedback to the Export Manager.
Meet reporting deadlines consistently.
Support business operations as required.
6. Brand Representation & Compliance
Represent the company professionally during international travel and customer engagements.
Maintain the company's brand image and reputation.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information.
Foster positive teamwork and collaboration.
Support additional business activities and projects as required.
