Financial Accountant

Job Description:

• Manage month-end accounting processes, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations
• Prepare accurate monthly financial reports and supporting schedules through to trial balance level
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns in line with regulatory requirements
• Maintain the fixed asset register and process monthly depreciation journals
• Prepare year-end audit files and liaise with external auditors during annual audit engagements
• Provide financial reporting, analysis, and ad hoc support to management and key stakeholders
• Review customer and supplier reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies as required
• Support and guide finance administration staff to ensure efficient and effective daily operations
• Assist in strengthening internal controls and identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting capabilities

• 3 to 5 years of accounting experience within a commercial or corporate environment
• Strong understanding of month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial accounting principles
• Sound knowledge of VAT, payroll taxes, and South African statutory and regulatory requirements
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for identifying trends and resolving discrepancies
• High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment

• Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles
