Hospitality Hire is recruiting an experienced Hotel Financial Controller for a permanent, full-time position in Montagu, Western Cape. We are looking for a hands-on hospitality finance professional with strong full-function bookkeeping experience who can independently manage the financial function across two trading entities and take the books accurately through to trial balance each month. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Full financial function for two separate entities
• Processing books through to trial balance
• Bank, card merchant and control account reconciliations
• Daily hotel revenue reconciliations
• Creditors and debtors management
• Age analyses and payment runs
• End-to-end payroll processing
• EMP201 preparation
• VAT preparation and reconciliation
• Stock and cost-of-sales entries
• Accruals and payroll journals
• Fixed asset register and depreciation
• Month-end schedules and supporting documentation
• Maintaining accurate separation of transactions between entities
• Supporting and guiding an existing finance administrator MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum 4 years’ full financial function experience within hotels or lodges
• Proven experience taking books independently through to trial balance
• Strong bank and control account reconciliation experience
• VAT preparation and reconciliation experience
• End-to-end payroll processing experience
• Strong creditors and debtors experience
• Experience with age analyses and payment runs
• Strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
• Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification, or equivalent proven experience
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Able to work independently and meet strict monthly deadlines
• Must be willing to work on-site in Montagu ADVANTAGEOUS
• Hotel revenue and stock reconciliation experience
• Xero experience
• Fixed asset and depreciation experience
• Understanding of capital versus operating expenditure
• Afrikaans and English SYSTEMS Systems used include Xero, Nightsbridge, Semper, Yoco, SimplePay and HubDoc. Experience with every system is not required. IDEAL CANDIDATE You should be commercially aware, methodical and naturally curious. We need someone who does more than process transactions and who will identify discrepancies, question unusual financial movements and take ownership of the accuracy of the accounts.
