Plant Engineer – GCC Registered | FMCG

The successful candidate will provide strategic and hands-on engineering leadership across plant infrastructure, production equipment, utilities and maintenance activities, ensuring a safe, reliable and efficient manufacturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a GCC-registered Engineer with approximately 8 years' FMCG or high-volume manufacturing experience who is ready to take ownership of plant engineering performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the overall engineering and maintenance function of the manufacturing plant.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations and engineering standards.
• Act as the responsible engineer for the safe operation and maintenance of plant equipment and facilities.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Drive plant reliability, equipment availability and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead maintenance planning, shutdowns, overhauls and major engineering projects.
• Manage critical utilities including boilers, steam, compressed air, refrigeration, water, electrical systems and other plant services.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency, reduce downtime and optimise maintenance costs.
• Provide technical support to production and manufacturing teams.
• Manage engineering projects from concept and budgeting through to implementation and commissioning.
• Monitor maintenance KPIs, equipment performance, downtime and engineering expenditure.
• Ensure statutory inspections, certifications and engineering documentation are maintained.
• Manage contractors and external service providers.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for recurring equipment failures.
• Develop and manage engineering budgets and capital expenditure projects.
• Lead and mentor engineering, maintenance and technical teams.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, reliability, accountability and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng, BSc or BTech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) - Factories is essential.
• Approximately 8 years' engineering experience within FMCG, food & beverage, packaging or a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience in plant engineering, maintenance and reliability.
• Proven experience managing engineering projects and maintenance programmes.
• Strong understanding of industrial utilities and manufacturing equipment.
• Working knowledge of OHS legislation, machinery safety and statutory compliance.
• Experience managing contractors, budgets and technical teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Advantageous Experience

• Exposure to FMCG production and processing environments.
• Experience with boilers, refrigeration, compressed air and steam systems.
• CMMS / maintenance management system experience.
• Lean Manufacturing, TPM or continuous improvement experience.
• Electrical, mechanical or process automation exposure.
• Experience managing CAPEX projects.
• Previous responsibility for large-scale manufacturing facilities.
