Minimum Requirements
- BSc Eng (Civil) / BEng (Civil)
- MSc or MEng in Hydrology/Hydraulics (preferred)
- 5-7 years’ relevant experience
- Valid South African driver’s license
- Experience in the development and assessment of water balances using GoldSim is a requirement for this position
Key Responsibilities
- Hydrological analyses: rainfall/runoff data, catchment delineation, flood peak modelling, water balance analysis, reservoir/canal routing, floodline determination, impact and risk assessments.
- Hydraulic design: backwater profiling, flood attenuation, canal flow, spillway design, erosion control, dam break analysis.
- Strong focus on surface water management in mining/industrial contexts.
- Preparation of technical reports and project management.
Software Proficiency
- General: MS Office, AutoCAD (Civil 3D)
- Specialised: GoldSim, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, UPFLOOD, WRSM2005, Flo-2D, QGIS/ArcGIS, ModelMaker
- Advantageous: Programming (Python, Visual Basic)
