Wine Lounge Hostess (Fixed-Term)

Core Criteria:

• Grade 12 essential; a hospitality certificate would be advantageous
• 1-2 years’ experience as a hostess or in a similar front-of-house role preferred
• Proven experience managing reservations
• Sound understanding of restaurant etiquette and familiarity with health and safety regulations
• Excellent communication skills, both in person and by telephone
• Demonstrable customer service skills
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to keep an eye on the entire dining and bar area
• Comfortable engaging with distinguished clientele
• Able to remain calm and efficient in a high-pressure environment
• Availability to work within opening hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
• Good physical condition, with the stamina to walk and stand for a full shift
• Well-presented, with an enthusiastic personality
• Team player who is flexible and accountable

• Welcome guests on arrival and bid them farewell on departure
• Escort guests to their allocated dining or bar areas
• Manage reservations and maintain the booking system
• Present menus and introduce guests to their server
• Liaise with the service team on seating availability
• Answer incoming calls and respond to guest queries
• Give extra care and attention to guests who need it, such as children and the elderly
• Keep the host station clean, tidy and well-presented
• Assist the service team where needed
