Accountabilities:
The AI Engineer - AI Agents will design, develop, and maintain intelligent agent systems that power automated customer interactions across multiple channels. This role requires strong engineering ownership, AI expertise, and the ability to collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
- Design, build, and own AI agent systems supporting voice, SMS, and email-based customer interactions.
- Develop and optimize LLM-powered workflows, including prompt engineering, agent behaviors, and orchestration strategies.
- Create reliable tool-calling integrations that enable AI agents to perform real-world actions such as scheduling appointments, retrieving customer information, and escalating conversations when needed.
- Build evaluation frameworks, AI observability systems, telemetry, tracing, and quality dashboards to measure performance and improve reliability.
- Develop solutions across backend systems, APIs, data models, and AI application layers using modern engineering practices.
- Partner closely with product and design teams to balance customer needs, business objectives, and technical decisions.
- Apply strong software engineering standards, including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, progressive delivery, feature experimentation, and technical documentation.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Stay current with evolving AI models, tools, and techniques and identify opportunities to apply new capabilities effectively.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate has experience building production-grade AI applications and strong software engineering foundations. They should be comfortable working across technical domains, taking ownership of complex initiatives, and translating emerging AI capabilities into practical customer solutions.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications in production environments.
- Experience with prompt engineering, function/tool calling, AI evaluation frameworks, agent orchestration, or similar AI development practices.
- Strong backend engineering experience with languages such as Elixir, Go, Python, or comparable server-side technologies.
- Ability and willingness to work across the full technology stack, including data models, APIs, AI systems, and user-facing applications when needed.
- Experience leading technical projects from planning and specification through launch and iteration.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguous challenges and deliver impactful solutions independently.
- Deep ownership mindset with a bias toward action, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for rapidly evolving AI technologies, models, and development techniques.
