AI Engineer / AI Automation Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Engineer / AI Automation Specialist based in India.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an AI-focused engineer to turn business challenges into practical, reliable, and scalable automated solutions. You will build AI-powered applications, intelligent agents, integrations, and workflows that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency. The role combines software development, LLMs, APIs, prompt engineering, automation platforms, and agentic workflows. You will work across the full delivery lifecycle, taking ideas from initial concept and experimentation through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement. The position offers significant autonomy and exposure to rapidly evolving generative AI technologies and automation tools. You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders while evaluating new technologies and identifying opportunities for meaningful automation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building with AI and prioritizes measurable business impact over experimentation alone.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain AI-powered applications, intelligent agents, and automated business workflows.
• Build agentic systems that combine LLMs, tools, APIs, business logic, and structured processes to execute real-world tasks.
• Integrate LLMs and generative AI capabilities with internal systems, third-party platforms, and business applications.
• Develop effective prompts, structured outputs, reusable AI components, and reliable workflows around generative AI models.
• Build and optimize automation workflows using platforms such as Make, Zapier, n8n, or similar technologies.
• Connect applications and business systems through APIs, webhooks, and event-driven integrations while maintaining reliable data flows.
• Develop internal tools and technical solutions using Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
• Test and evaluate prompts, agents, workflows, integrations, and AI outputs to identify edge cases, failure modes, and opportunities for improvement.
• Implement appropriate safeguards, validation mechanisms, and reliability practices for AI-powered automation.
• Troubleshoot issues across code, APIs, AI systems, and automation platforms, ensuring workflows remain stable and scalable.
• Research and evaluate emerging LLMs, agent frameworks, AI coding tools, and automation technologies, identifying opportunities with clear business value.
• Document AI systems, workflows, integrations, dependencies, and maintenance procedures to support scalability and long-term reliability.
• Continuously improve AI-powered solutions based on real-world performance, user feedback, system metrics, and evolving business requirements.
• Take ownership of projects from initial concept through implementation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

Requirements:

• Professional experience in software development, AI engineering, automation, or a related technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience working with LLMs and generative AI, including building AI-powered applications, workflows, or automations.
• Practical experience integrating APIs, third-party platforms, webhooks, and external services.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Understanding of prompt engineering, structured AI workflows, structured outputs, tool/function calling, and agentic development patterns.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools and modern development workflows.
• Experience designing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining reliable technical systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to independently take projects from an initial idea through technical implementation and deployment.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and managing priorities with limited supervision.
• Experience with Make, Zapier, n8n, or similar workflow automation platforms is highly desirable.
• Experience building AI agents, multi-step agentic workflows, or AI-powered business automations is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with event-driven integrations, cloud deployment, structured LLM outputs, and AI system monitoring is beneficial.
• Ability to think critically about AI reliability and recognize that AI-generated outputs require appropriate testing and validation.
• Strong business mindset, with a focus on reducing manual work, improving efficiency, and delivering measurable operational value.
