This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Intelligence Architect based in Canada.
As a Business Intelligence Architect, you will shape the data and analytics infrastructure that enables smarter, faster business decisions. You will design and deliver enterprise-grade BI solutions using Microsoft Power BI and Fabric while building robust semantic models for reporting. Working closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and governance specialists, you will translate complex requirements into scalable analytics solutions. You will also optimize BI environments, automate reporting processes, and establish effective security and governance practices. The role combines deep technical expertise with stakeholder engagement and independent ownership in a remote environment. Your work will directly improve how teams access, understand, and act on critical business data.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and deliver end-to-end Business Intelligence solutions using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve enterprise semantic models that support scalable business reporting and analytics.
- Manage, monitor, and optimize Power BI and Fabric environments, including Premium/Fabric capacities.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand data and reporting requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Collaborate with data, analytics, and global data governance teams to support current and future enterprise data needs.
- Establish and maintain appropriate Power BI security models, including row-level and object-level security, workspaces, and identity-based access.
- Support report creators and business users by providing guidance, troubleshooting, and clear explanations of technical concepts.
- Automate reporting and BI workflows using Power Platform tools, particularly Power Automate.
- Work with large and complex datasets to develop reliable, performant, and maintainable analytical solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of BI infrastructure, processes, standards, and user experience.
- Communicate insights, technical decisions, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 6-8 years of professional experience working with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and Premium/Fabric capacities.
- Expert-level knowledge of DAX and Power Query, combined with strong data modeling and semantic modeling capabilities.
- Advanced SQL skills and proven experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Strong understanding of Power BI security, including Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), workspaces, and Entra groups.
- Demonstrated experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale semantic models and enabling report development across business teams.
- Good working knowledge of Python for analytics, automation, or data-related use cases.
- Hands-on experience with Power Automate and working knowledge of Azure.
- Strong understanding of BI architecture, reporting infrastructure, data governance, and scalable analytics practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business insights.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and collaborate successfully across distributed teams.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional background in computer science, information systems, data analytics, engineering, or a related discipline is advantageous.
