This remote, project-based opportunity is designed for experienced accounting professionals with hands-on controllership expertise.
You’ll apply your knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, and core accounting operations to help shape high-quality AI training data.
The role draws directly on real-world experience with general ledgers, reconciliations, journal entries, and period-end close activities.
You’ll assess AI-generated accounting work for accuracy, GAAP compliance, and sound professional judgment.
Your expertise will help improve how AI systems understand and perform practical accounting and reporting tasks.
The work is fully remote, flexible, and conducted asynchronously with a research team.
It offers an opportunity to contribute specialized accounting knowledge to the development of more capable AI systems.
Accountabilities
- Design realistic accounting scenarios based on hands-on controllership experience, including financial statement preparation, journal entries, account and bank reconciliations, month-end and period-end close, fixed assets, depreciation schedules, accruals, and prepaids.
- Review and compare AI-generated accounting outputs to assess accuracy, GAAP compliance, completeness, and professional judgment.
- Identify errors, inconsistencies, or weaknesses in AI-generated accounting work and determine whether conclusions and calculations are appropriate.
- Provide clear, structured written feedback designed to improve AI performance on financial reporting and accounting operations tasks.
- Apply practical knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger processes where relevant.
- Collaborate asynchronously with a research team to support the development and refinement of accounting-focused AI training data.
- Complete assigned projects and deliverables accurately and within established timelines.
- Maintain professional standards while ensuring that examples and scenarios do not rely on confidential or proprietary information.
- CPA certification or 3-5+ years of corporate, in-house, or public accounting experience, with no specialized certification required beyond relevant professional expertise.
- Demonstrated hands-on ownership of the general ledger and month-end or period-end close processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and GAAP principles.
- Familiarity with common accounting and financial systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain accounting judgments, conclusions, and corrections clearly.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong ability to identify inaccuracies or inconsistencies in financial information.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and collaborate effectively in an asynchronous remote environment.
- Practical, current accounting experience with the ability to translate real-world workflows into clear examples and structured feedback.
- Compensation: $80-$120 per hour.
