This part-time, fully remote faculty role offers an opportunity to bring real-world digital forensics and cyber investigation expertise into a higher-education environment.

You will teach adult learners through practical, project-based coursework focused on modern investigative techniques and digital evidence.

Courses span network forensics, Windows forensics, evidence collection, incident response, and cyber investigation foundations.

The role combines subject-matter expertise with active student engagement, mentoring, and applied learning.

You will help learners connect academic concepts with the tools, methodologies, and challenges encountered by cybersecurity professionals.

The position is particularly suited to scholar-practitioners who want to shape the next generation of digital forensics and cyber investigation specialists.

Faculty work remotely while supporting a diverse, globally distributed student population with flexible learning needs.

Accountabilities:

    • Teach assigned digital forensics and cyber investigation courses through engaging, project-based online instruction.
    • Guide students through practical applications involving digital evidence collection, examination, analysis, preservation, and reporting.
    • Cover relevant topics such as network forensics, Windows forensics, incident response, cybercrime investigation, forensic imaging, mobile and storage media analysis, and chain of custody.
    • Actively engage students through regular interaction, discussion, demonstrations, and problem-solving activities that encourage academic and professional growth.
    • Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work and use assessment rubrics effectively to evaluate learning outcomes.
    • Bring current professional knowledge, tools, methodologies, and industry practices into the classroom to strengthen students' understanding of real-world cybersecurity investigations.
    • Help students connect technical concepts across their broader cybersecurity studies and apply their knowledge to realistic investigative scenarios.
    • Identify opportunities to improve course content and provide feedback to academic leadership on potential curriculum enhancements.
    • Complete required faculty onboarding and professional development activities, including the designated online new-faculty orientation.
    • Requirements:

      • Master's degree in Digital Forensics or a related discipline from an accredited higher-education institution.
      • Professional experience in digital forensics, cyber investigation, cybersecurity, incident response, or a closely related field.
      • Strong practical knowledge of digital evidence collection, forensic analysis, investigative methodologies, and evidence preservation.
      • Relevant expertise in areas such as network forensics, Windows systems and file systems, forensic tools, incident response, cyber-attacks, online evidence, and root cause analysis.
      • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible explanations for adult learners with varying levels of technical experience.
      • Strong communication, facilitation, organization, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create an engaging and supportive virtual learning environment.
      • Demonstrated ability to apply professional experience to project-based and hands-on learning activities.
      • Experience teaching adult learners and/or working in higher education is strongly preferred.
      • A scholar-practitioner mindset, with a commitment to connecting current professional practices with academic learning.
      • Applicants with international degrees may be required to provide an approved translation and/or credential evaluation.

        • Hiring rates range from approximately $806 to $1,645 per credit hour, depending on academic rank and whether the faculty member holds a terminal degree.
