Expert Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Expert Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer based in Brazil.

As an Expert Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer, you will build and deploy production-grade solutions powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), intelligent agents, and advanced workflows. You will join a cross-functional engineering environment focused on turning complex business use cases into reliable, scalable AI systems. Your work will span agent development, retrieval-augmented generation, tool integrations, evaluation frameworks, and production telemetry. You will collaborate closely with business users and technical teams to rapidly iterate on solutions while maintaining strong quality and safety standards. The role combines deep software engineering expertise with practical experience delivering LLM applications in real-world environments. Accountabilities

• Build and deploy LLM-powered agents and intelligent workflows using established templates, pipelines, and guardrails.
• Develop production-ready AI solutions that translate business use cases into reliable and scalable systems.
• Design and execute Large Language Model evaluations as an integral part of the development lifecycle, ensuring systems meet defined quality standards before release.
• Create evaluation suites and continuously assess the quality, reliability, and performance of AI-powered applications.
• Integrate AI applications with customer systems, APIs, databases, and other relevant data sources.
• Implement instrumentation and telemetry to monitor system quality, usage, performance, and costs.
• Apply effective prompt engineering and context engineering techniques to improve the reliability and usefulness of AI applications in real-world scenarios.
• Collaborate directly with business users and stakeholders to understand requirements and iterate rapidly within clearly defined scopes.
• Balance speed of delivery with appropriate engineering standards, evaluation practices, and AI safety guardrails.
• Contribute to technical decisions and continuously improve the development patterns, workflows, and practices used to deliver AI-powered products.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2.5 years building and deploying Large Language Model applications in production.
• Proven hands-on experience developing LLM-powered agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, tool-use workflows, or comparable generative Artificial Intelligence applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
• Strong software engineering and Application Programming Interface (API) development skills, including the ability to design reliable and maintainable integrations.
• Solid experience with prompt engineering and context engineering for production AI applications.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement Large Language Model evaluation processes and incorporate evaluations directly into development workflows.
• Ability to move quickly and deliver production solutions without compromising quality, reliability, or appropriate guardrails.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience working with customer systems, external data sources, integrations, and production application environments.
• Experience with retrieval and Information Retrieval (IR) techniques is desirable, particularly for assistant-facing applications.
• Experience handling healthcare data is a plus.
• Experience with AI application cost optimization is desirable.
• Knowledge or experience in Intelligent Automation is advantageous.
