Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to provide strategic technical leadership across enterprise cloud architecture within a federal environment.

You will shape secure, scalable, and resilient Azure architectures while establishing standards that guide engineering and DevOps teams.

Your work will influence cloud modernization, infrastructure automation, governance, security, and the long-term evolution of enterprise platforms.

You will lead architectural planning for cloud migrations and help transform on-premises workloads into modern, cloud-native solutions.

The position combines deep Azure and DevOps expertise with strong stakeholder engagement across technical teams, program leadership, and government partners.

You will serve as a trusted technical authority, translating mission objectives and security requirements into practical architecture strategies and roadmaps.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on complex public-sector technology initiatives while helping teams adopt reliable and sustainable cloud practices.

Accountabilities

    • Design and oversee highly available, secure, scalable Azure architectures spanning compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, and related cloud services.
    • Define enterprise Azure reference architectures, technical patterns, standards, and best practices for engineering and development teams.
    • Establish architectural guidance for Azure identity, governance, policy enforcement, access management, monitoring, and observability.
    • Evaluate cloud-native Azure services and modernization approaches to improve scalability, resilience, security, and operational efficiency.
    • Define Infrastructure as Code architecture standards using Terraform and ARM templates, ensuring infrastructure deployments are repeatable, secure, and auditable.
    • Guide DevOps teams in developing automated CI/CD strategies and pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub, Artifactory, and other cloud-agnostic tooling.
    • Provide architectural oversight for containerized deployment models using Kubernetes, Docker, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
    • Lead architecture planning for migrating on-premises workloads to Azure and recommend appropriate cloud-native transformation strategies.
    • Develop hybrid cloud connectivity and networking architectures that support secure and reliable enterprise operations.
    • Establish Azure governance strategies covering Azure Policy, role-based access control, identity and access management, monitoring, and compliance.
    • Ensure cloud architecture aligns with applicable federal security, governance, and compliance requirements.
    • Act as the technical authority for Azure architecture across the program, providing guidance to DevOps, cloud engineering, and development teams.
    • Translate business and mission requirements into technical architecture strategies, roadmaps, and actionable recommendations.
    • Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and design sessions while clearly communicating technical decisions and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with government stakeholders, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to ensure cloud initiatives remain aligned with mission objectives.
    • Requirements

      • U.S. Citizenship is required.
      • Current or previous Public Trust designation is required.
      • At least 6 years of experience designing and implementing Azure cloud architectures, including highly available architectures, identity and governance, compute and storage services, virtual networking, hybrid connectivity, Azure Policy, and proactive monitoring.
      • At least 6 years of experience working with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and ARM templates.
      • At least 6 years of DevOps experience focused on Azure technologies, cloud deployment automation, and pipeline development.
      • Demonstrated experience architecting CI/CD strategies using platforms and tools such as GitLab, GitHub, and Artifactory.
      • Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, and AKS.
      • Proven experience developing cloud migration strategies and transforming on-premises workloads into cloud-native architectures.
      • Strong understanding of Azure ecosystem services, including Azure Active Directory, Intune, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Exchange, and OneDrive.
      • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
      • Strong understanding of cloud governance, security, identity and access management, monitoring, and compliance practices.

      • Experience supporting U.S. federal cloud environments and related compliance frameworks is preferred.
      • Demonstrated experience leading cloud transformation initiatives within complex enterprise environments is preferred.
